As near as I can tell if you're looking to support the victims directly financially the best way is to donate to Equality Florida -- www.eqfl.org

I'm looking, along with other people, to send a Dutch team of specialists for psych relief/victim support. These people are specialised in dealing with Hate crimes/violence.

These laws were put in effect back in the 80s/90s to put a damper on the march of HIV/AIDS.
Even in The Netherlands, the country that introduced gay marriage on this planet has the same laws regarding donating blood.

As terrible as this may sound, the backlash might gain some attention on this law.

^Ah, I was wondering why that ban was in effect. Is there any real reason for it now though, since we know more about HIV/AIDS and can detect/treat/whatever it better? I'm not a doctor or any kind of expert, so sorry if that's a dumb question.

In my Buddhism perspective, it doesn't matter as long as this is love, no matter what gender you are. May these guys rest in heaven.

Most enforcements on minorities rarely get removed. It needs traction and attention to get light on outdated topics like the one discussed.
But it got the attention now.

America really needs to sort its shit out with guns (news reported that the shooter obtained his weapons legally). Considering that the police can be (though arguably not as much as they should be) equipped with non-lethal weapons, they should think of some non-lethal alternative to the "protection" that gun-jockeys claim they need so much, provided there's a decent level of regulation about who can own them.

The gun situation isn't fixable by law, in my opinion.

It has to change from the other side, the people. It's just like Spain's bullfights, Japan's whale hunting, Canada's seal clubbing, Iceland's Dolphin gathering for slaughter. unpopular banning is useless. What we need is time. And more patience while people get murdered.

laws wont completely solve gun violent. however, they can reduce/ prevent mass shootings. guns dont kill people, but automatic weapons can.

Uh no and how by voting Drumpf would help? Please explain this to me.

Anyways back to topic I really wish they do something about gun control I do believe people should have the right to bear arms but at the same time it's like what will backgrounds checks do? What I mean someone can go through the background check and they find that person is fine to have a gun. But say one day that person just looses it and decide to go out and kill people.

May they're souls find peace.

Because apparently in most countries most people still firmly think that making tests on gay people is pointless because their chance of having sex related diseases is so much higher it is just waste of money. If you are hetero though, they will check your blood all right, cos by default you are not a sex deviant having random sex every day so there is good chance your blood will be usable. Good thing our society made progress.

and speaking of assholes donald trump has taken advantage of this tragedy to push his anti-muslim agenda

Someone needs to remind him how he explained after the killing at the Bataclan in France that such a tragedy would have been adverted if we didn't have such a strict weapon control policy. Just hate how politicians all over the world use such tragedies to further their agenda one way and the other with no shame at all...

Replenishing stocks depleted by this event is still a worthy goal, and indirectly means they don't have to hold any back in case there's another event/emergency.

An islamic act of terrorism already devolved into comments on gun controls, only on the 2nd page.

Maybe if he had used bombs you would be blaming fertilizer?

I don't remember this being a LGBT news site, let alone a forum for religion and gun control.

Blood donations must be constant and in a sufficient quantity. These kind of donations are worthless if those donators are not going back to donate regularly.

And I don't want to argue here but they should be told exactly that. "Be sure to come back to donate whenever you can because you're not helping at all. Thank you very much anyway."

It's not, but you seriously think an event effecting the LGBT community like this would go unremarked?

The religion and gun control parts are a sideshow to the intent of this news post, although not surprising.

did he use bomb? how r they the same in comparision? If there were proper gun controls in place for the assault rifles/automatic weapons, this tragedy wouldnt have happened. I am for the second amendment-plan to get a chl by year end. However, I am supporting for more gun controls, especially on those assault rifles.

As relevant as the gun control argument is, perhaps this isn't the best place to debate that side of the issue. Casusby's original post was about how to help, and I think that should be our priority here rather than getting into arguments.

With that said, remembering the victims and their legacy is itself a helpful act, as is donating through the links in the original post.
