After thinking about it a bit, you know what Bluebell Hall reminds me of?

NaNoWriMo

Think about it, it's a short novel. Way too short to do justice to what could be great protagonists and situations. NaNo is all about making short novels, 50k words being barely big enough to be considered a novel at all. 40k and below are considered novellas, and modern novels are generally about two or three times that length, and even bigger if you're writing an epic fantasy or historical novel.

Plus there's the "skimming" feel of the whole thing. NaNo, for all its good points, isn't about making good content. It's about prioritizing volume and speed. Which are good, but you then have to go back and rewrite a few times, which a lot of NaNo writers don't really bother with. Editing and rewriting are hard, and much different skills from writing quickly. If you haven't built much skill at either, well...

Dunno if any of this is correct, but my gut feeling is Bluebell Hall is a NaNovel that got polished a bit.

I liked Bluebell Hall even though I agree it was too rushed.

So there's actual yuri in Tales from the Borderlands? I may have to get it.

I dunno what the acronyms are that Telamon menstions, though.

^Haven't played it but it doesn't seem like it's gonna be worth it just for the yuri. It's a Telltale game though so it's probably a really good game in general.

True and Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode. Basically New Game+ and New Game ++ in the FPS-Borderlands games.

Borderlands is quite a lot of fun when you want to jump in an shoot things, I used a hack so I could play in 3rd person though.

And out of curiosity I googled "lesbians in Borderlands game", much laughter was to be had. Apparently there was a lot of crying from (probably all men) about the "amount of gay" in this game. And if you're defending the amount of gay in the game you're an SJW. xD

The thing is though, that as usual with the Borderlands game, they are over-the-top and shouldn't be taken seriously. In the case of TPS (The Pre-Sequel) Janey is a very stereotypical lesbian that goes after every pretty female (Moxxi and Athena) it's even seen that she more or less stalks Moxxi, so while there are plenty gay/lesbian people, they are mostly there for the joke that they are gay/lesbian. Just my two cents ;)

^There are a lot of instances where it's not played for laughs though. I haven't played Pre-Sequel yet but in Borderlands 2 Sir Hammerlock mentions an old boyfriend, Moxxi sometimes mentions her past girlfriends and in one of the side missions, the were audiologs about a woman that was being forced to torture a married husband-husband couple because Handsome Jack was threatening her wife.

Also, people complaining about how so many LGBT people aren't realistic are hilarious. Clearly Borderlands is all about realism.

I read an interview where the main writer had said he wrote one of the guys as this Randy Savage like character, but then he evolved him to be more of a sjw-ish person or something. So as Gengar said, I don't think they are all done for laughs either.

Oh no, they're not all done for laughs. Beneath all the conversations there is depth, but the core of the characters is to be funny and light, and I guess a lot of people don't see that.

^Just discuss away. You started a discussion, that's not a bad thing. :P And I didn't know about Janey and Athena, so thanks for that.

I just play video games for fun.

We all do. :P

In Shdowrun Dragonfall, if you're playing a girl character, with the right answers you can hint that you were romantically involved with Monika, the former leader.

Not a huge thing, but it was pretty nice.

Haha, that's exactly how I played it too. But then I assume all female playable characters are lesbians unless specified otherwise.

Do you go with the "beard" or forced marriage explanation if they married to a guy like in FO4?

Also in Dragonfall, one of your (female) team mates was in love with a woman too. Other lesbians appear, but

Not a huge thing

very much applies to the gay in Dragonfall.

I'll be honest, I forget. It's been a while since I've played it (and still have yet to finish).

You know what I can't figure out in Dragonfall? Riggers. Still trying to wrap my head around playing those.

Trauma Alert by Radclyffe is a pretty good book. The MCs are a trauma surgeon and a firefighter/paramedic. The details about procedures are pretty good, though that is kind of a given since the author is a retired surgeon. The best friend of one of the MCs also has her own book with her now wife. So I'll probably read through that one. The way she describes the MCs arousal though, it's like they've got aphrodisiac for blood. That is to say the sex only happens 3/4 in the book, but the way it's described is pretty.. hmm, animalistic? "Clitoris tightening." Yeah. Anyway, good book.

Radclyffe's stuff tends to be VERY porny, so I'm not surprised.

Honestly, I kinda like when the gay isn't covered in rainbows and neon signs. Its presented as more normal that way, like how het couples are. It's kinda sad we have to make a big production out it everytime. That's not saying I want it shoved in the closet again, just make it commonplace without the fanfare...

But I guess it can't be helped, we've been crammed in the closet so long we can't help it lol.

Agreed. My earlier point was more in line with "you'll be disappointed if you play it for the gay". But, tbh, I guess it'd be more correct to say that it applies to romance in Dragonfall, be it gay or not. Then again, said female team mate relationship with a woman is plot relevant.

So, I read Anastasia Vitsky's stuff. Or at least 4 of 5 that I managed to find. All her stories involve spanking/light BDSM (though I doubt it can be called that). And they are all short (100-ish pages per story) so it's a quick read. At times I got confused in what she was trying to convey, but it didn't matter.

"Simple Gifts" is my favorite so far of hers, followed by "Seoul Spankings" (the MC from "Simple Gifts" shows up for a bit), and then the other two that I could've gone without reading "Editorial Board" and "Desire in Any Language", mainly because they don't really have romance in them. But yeah, they are light and fun (the last one is kind of an exception).

The fifth one that I have "Gemstone" I probably won't read because it has a love triangle, and I really dislike them so.
