Honestly, it hasn't been in doubt at all since the honmei choco thing that Ran was seriously gay for Keiko. So this just reminds us of just how gay, and the fact that Keiko does seriously care for her although I doubt "in a gay way" has really occurred to her yet.

Surely that is a nice present but I have the feeling that is still all there is to it. None of the obstacles in their path have been addressed, just like in the last couple of chapters.
