lol, saw this before, and yeah it is very cute. Page 1 seems to be listed at the end of the chapter as opposed to the start, though. Does disturb the flow a bit.

How strange - takes a cruel character and gives him a side that you can understand. However the real kyuubey is nothing like this. Still, nice story.

And I'd even like to thank Urobuchi for having Bebe by Mami's side now.

I think this works best if you consider it as one of Homura's failed timelines and an anamolous one at that. The anomaly being that Kyuubey develops emotions and an attachment to Mami, of course.

Also helps if you consider the KyubeeyXMami relationship as sort of a brother-sister kind of thing.

Interesting take. I've always wondered what would it be like if Kyubey actually developed feelings (aka rare mental illness in his word), but I guess it wouldn't change much. He would most likely be attached to the one he had known the longest, try to push Madoka into contracting for Mami's sake, get killed by Homura and quickly replaced by another incubator.

On the one hand, it's a little wild to come across a Kierkegaard reference in a Madoka doujinshi. On the other hand, it makes nothing but sense.

(The title, The Sickness Unto Death, is also the title of a book by Søren Kierkegaard; it's a work of 19th century Christian philosophy, so it's decidedly heavy reading, but the "sickness unto death" of the title is despair — specifically despair considered as a rejection of love and the Infinite.)
