Yeah, the text in the bottom left and in the background of the proceeding page are both like, stuff you would hear to relax and become more suggestible or otherwise more pliable to hypnosis. I'm pretty sure I've heard audios with those.

OKAY? this one has always stuck out as an especially good gag manga but WHAT? THE HELL? should've listened to fumi's warnings...

i really can't wait to see what sugar. does next. i like the smaller bits where the humanity of the characters is brought out- like with nagi's broken confession to airi. that whole sequence is really emotional and very real to me, so i wonder what something beyond the 4koma format would look like from them!

I doubt Nagi did anything on purpose (Drugged? Hypnotized?) Keep in mind, this is from Airi's pov and as stated from the start of chapter, she's having trouble remembering thus the weirdly cropped panel and the censored words. Nagi seems to also realize something went wrong just before Airi packed her bags and went on her trip.

My guess is they, the two of them, tried out a hypnosis kit Fumi brought; and having been watching horror stuff, they decided to do something in that direction. Airi went under, and Nagi put in a couple of triggers. Maybe something like 'when I offer to hold your hand, you will see me as a monster' or 'when you go home, you'll go to my place instead'.

But one little detail is catching my attention: the panel where it is stated 'I'm Takane Nagi and you're Arimoto Airi.' That sounds like a reaffirmation of some induced identity shenanigans. Like maybe the Airi we see is actually Nagi made to think she's Airi, and that's why when she tries to run home she runs to Nagi's home.

Yeah and the previous page also shows them from both angles correctly swapping them around before they eat the chocolates after which they are shown conspicuously from behind Fumi's head to highlight the perspective shift incorrectly seating them.

So they definitely swapped physically, rather they used the chocolates to make themselves believe they are eachother for fun and profit.

Which would make Airi(Nagi's) perspective of Nagi(Airi) incredibly funny. Like did the perspective shift make her feel the way she believes Airi feels toward herself? Hilarious.

Lol i actually really like this. it makes it so that Nagi (as Airi) probably is subconsciously recalling her crush on Airi (as Nagi) but is also being charmed by the image of herself.

I think once the author realized they could safely start writing their interests because they secured a certain amount of volumes, they just started adding in a bunch of stuff they liked (go off queen). like throwing in best friend character who's into ntr? that extra with airi just getting tf-ed? author knows ball and is going for a half court shot

also I interpreted the "i'm takane nagi, and you're arimoto airi. Right?" panel as like nagi double checking that the hypnosis only went a specific amount and not too far, especially with the amnesia aspect. I thought she was double checking that like airi knew who she was and where she was, but forgot what had just happened to her. I do really like the interpretation that they "switched", so to speak, though cause that's just an interesting concept to me.

could go either way, to be honest, since it could be just nagi instinctively going back to her own house, or airi being hypnotized to go to nagi's house, which she said in chapter 20 she's been to a lot.
