what a cute special. Mei being cold even after marriage lol, but her dere side is just so precious.
most of the people are mad at saburo because of the ending, but i'm mad at her because she still hasn't given us any matsurixharumin moments (_ _;) HOPEFULLY, she starts a side story focused solely on them.

btw, this marriage end made me wonder what if same-sex marriage suddenly become legal in japan, how will this affect the yuri genre? since most yuri is born in the harsh conditions and views of society. would yuri lose it's charm, or would it become even more interesting?

Can't stand tsundere types in real life, but damn if I don't love 'em in manga and anime. This was adorable--- but it's hard to suspend disbelief when I keep remembering that they're like 17 and still living at home yet still somehow have the most lavish ass wedding. Damn. Grandpa gots money.

I believe it'd become more interesting. When same-sex marriage is hidden away and relatively unacknowledged, stereotypes and misunderstandings abound; when it's out in the open, these stereotypes weaken in their appeal, creating greater room and a wider audience for more diverse representations of same-sex relationships. So in other words, the genre would become more 'interesting'.

But, of course, that depends on what you personally find interesting or charming. I don't find that drama arising from transgressing societal norms is particularly 'charming' per se, but I do see how engaging in the forbidden can carry a certain allure. Not to mention that the 'oh noes we're both girls' angst is a convenient plot device too, even though some may argue that it's been milked to death.

Well I liked this I am going to buy the rest of the manga , I found it to be a realistic romance showing that a manic pixie dream girl can no solve all their problems.

I know I'm woefully late to the party, but this special was so cute and happy and Citrus-y, that I could just barely handle it. And then I read some comments of y'all, and some of them made me laugh more than the Q&A at the beginning of the special. Also, since Harumi cought one of the bouquets, I'm willing to bet that we may finally see HaruMatsu becoming canon.

I wonder if Citrus Plus will be more about the "future" or after marriage or if it's going to be focusing on other characters.

Why not all three?

Woah I'm also super late! I'm a long time Citrus skeptic and I think this ending was pretty cute. Like idk what y'all were expecting. Citrus was never subtle, so a subtle ending would have been a lot more surprising.

btw, this marriage end made me wonder what if same-sex marriage suddenly become legal in japan, how will this affect the yuri genre? since most yuri is born in the harsh conditions and views of society. would yuri lose it's charm, or would it become even more interesting?

Consider this: same gender marriage has been legal in all of the US states since 2015. It was a hard fought battle, and certainly a big deal. On the other hand, it didn't transform society by itself, so the systemic bias against.gays and bisexuals remained. Just like when the civil rights movement of the 1960's achieved legal equality for all races, racism and systemic racial inequalities didn't disappear. So while it would be a big deal if same-sex marriage were to be legalized in Japan, it wouldn't fundamentally change things. Thus even if yuri were indeed just a biproduct of a heterosexist society (which is an idea I disagree with), it wouldn't run out of material just because of that one change.

I have to agree. Yuri as a genre has always been linked to the fate of (for simplicity's sake) queer women in Japan (in general terms), and transgressing norms has always been a part of it. But even if life is happier in the future for these women, that doesn't mean that their stories will be any less interesting, or that they won't want to see themselves in interesting stories. The reason why fictional representation is important is because it can help them (or any marginalized people) formulate their desires, gain inspiration. That's crucial because if you don't know what goal you're trying to achieve, how can you fight for it? In a way, one could argue that yuri and other sapphic stories can actually play a role in fighting for a world that's more friendly to queer women.

Honestly though, consider how much sexual tension was built up between these two over that whole period, after marriage, suprisingly Mei still does not get the tsun fked out of her yet

... The ending felt... weird.

It was as if the author was told to wrap it up quickly right before the last couple chapters. For someone who was a fan of the manga I found the ending disappointing because of the rush and lack of resolving the issue. It would have been better if more of the expected conflict came from the declaration of love. You know kind of like how the rest of the series was.
