I liked the show a lot overall but I agree that shuji added basically nothing.
(Except for his little robot crab Conch. It was adorable and I love it.)
Anyone expecting actual yuri in the show was just deluding themselves, it was never implied in anything, you just have yuri goggles on. The reaction on this site has seemed super weird to me ngl, not every anime featuring two female protagonists who don't kiss is bait lol. I love the yuri fanart the show's spawned, but none of that is textual in the show itself, and that's fine.

And another thing, it's less that Nyaan and Kycilia had chemistry, and more just that Kycilia's really hot and Nyaan was just her best available option for a yuri ship. It being agegap is just a bonus.

^I think the reaction came from the expectation of a possible influence of GWitch. I didn't watch it, but just by reading everyone's comments I can tell what kind of show it was. The truth is that the yuri in GWitch is an extra detail and shouldn't be seen as what identifies the series, althotugh in a way it kinda does. GCucks was basically the attempt to maintain a modern approach to the Gundam series that GWitch started. Did it work? Not in here I guess...

^Yeah the Arknights anime is "okay", not as good as it could be but it could be way worse as well with how bad some gacha adaptions are. With Uma Musume it's focus is on the real life sports legacy of the horses, including real life race results, injuries, and other aspects. Where you have the 3 season series on Crunchyroll, season 1 is the just okay season by PA works focusing on Special Week that I think is bit looser with the historical element, and then season 2 and 3 are by Studio Kai, where season 2 focusing on Tokai Teio is great and is the best of those 3 seasons in my opinion, and season 3 focusing Kitasan Black is better then season 1 but not as good as season 2 imo.

Outside of that the main anime going forward are all by Cygame's own anime studio I believe. Where you have "Road to the Top", which is a 4 episode Youtube series focusing on a trio and I love it. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzFNGS7Rcf-PZC8MfcTJX7srArpLdvyfb - it's watchable with subtitles turned on, and the series it's self is the 4 episodes that are 20+ minutes in length.

There's also the movie that came out last year, Beginning of a New Era. I haven't seen it yet but I really want to, I've heard it's incredible. It's coming to AX (anime expo LA) in July, and I hope it will be in theaters in the USA afterwards as I've been holding off on seeing the movie for that reason.

Currently there's the newest anime based off the popular manga Cinderella Gray, which is focusing on Oguri Cap here. This is a series I've been watching on Amazon, and I think it's fantastic so far. It's returning for the next 12 episodes in October I heard.

I think you can watch these pretty much however you want? As they're focusing on different main characters, you could give the 4 episode Youtube series a watch since it's an easily binged introduction, or season 2 on Crunchyroll focusing on Tokai Teio as that season made a lot of people (including myself) fall in love with the anime.

As a side note though, I'm kind of hesitant to try the game?

Most online games today use kernel-level Anti-Cheats. I can't say about this one, but for example all Hoyogames use Kernel-levels, same like Fortnite, Valorant, WuWa etc. PCGaming have little over 500 games and they are probably not all of them.

^I think that's part of why I've been sticking closer to single player / indy games in the last few years. I did play Genshin at one point but stopped, League I stopped playing when they added Kernel, Valorant I only installed briefly at one point for a redeem. It seems like it became the norm...but it still feels weirdly invasive to me.

^^^ Yeah that's super invasive. I almost always gave up on the game entirely or only play its mobile counterpart (if exist) if they choose to force me to install their kernel drivers. It's almost impossible to gain persistent root or kernel privilege on Android or iOS without users actively providing assistance now.

By the way there were known security incidents where computer criminals use HoYoverse' poorly written anti-cheat drivers to evade (or even kill) antivirus detection. If such kernel-level anti-cheat is not written with care it's only a problem of time before it's used as other attackers' backdoor.

Also note that HoYoverse' anti-cheat driver is not automatically removed even if you remove Genshin afterwards. You can remove the driver by executing sc delete mhyprot2 as administrator and (important) reboot your computer.

^Unfortunately I can't say I'm surprised, I think League had issues involving their kernel anti-cheat after I uninstalled...which was interesting with how some people were really defending Riot when they first announced plans to add it...I thought well that aged badly...

^ I make sure my passwords are like BZkn7TpHD@*tHGcFdez8b2cNDsM and write them down in a ∼∼notebook so everyone trying to break in would either have to physically break in or social engineer me∼∼ password manager.
