^^Honestly, there's far worse one shots. I wouldn't even call it depressing, I think it's a fairly mature take on rushing into relationships. They cut the relationship off before things get nasty or really angsty, and seem to remain on good terms afterwards

I would say the sequel one-shots definitely drive home that point. In one of the other one-shots they are good friends and one even offers relationship advice to the other about another girl.

The series adaptation definitely gets heavier but ultimately still keeps a pretty hopeful outlook on things in the end.
