Wiki gives me this : The term bridegroom dates to 1604, from the Old English brȳdguma, a compound of brȳd (bride) and guma (man, human being, hero).

It can still be gender neutral, and you can be a hero!

What if both partners are non-humanoid robots?

and if they are tentacle monsters?

In that case: Etsuraku no Tane: The Animation

Is yuri with tentacles.... But is as bad as it sounds, or as good depending on your taste.
Is really bad

How yuri with tentacles can be bad??? I'll be in my bunk now!

Girls are mind-controlled by tentacles (I think 2 of them are a couple, they both get raped) that make them rape (and infest with tentacles(?)) other girls, it ends in a rape-orgy-mindbreak.

How is there an anime adaption of that but not of like, Earth Girls or something? Mira would probably give them the rights for free. Jesus fuck, Japan.

Japan loves tentacles, that's why...

Whatever tentacles. What's up with the rape bullshit?

Now that is a good question! maybe there's a lot of useless man in japan, and they know that they're nothing more than trash and would never be able to get a good woman, maybe that's why rape makes so much success there? that and the fact that it's a patriarchal society and rape makes them feel superior to womans since they completely dominate them by showing them that they're only usefull for sex? maybe i'm thinking too much about it...

And let's not forget other japanese bullshits, like arranged marriage, or the fact that woman should quit their job to become a baby factory, or that they love to say "shikata ga nai"/"it cannot be helped", why does japan have so much bullshit dammit?

Unfortunately yuri is a niche genre. Also, iirc, anime adaptations are up to the magazines where the manga is in. Yuri magazines don't sell so well (neither does yuri anime.. so its actually a pretty bad business decision to make yuri, /salute those who voluntarily made that suicidal move recently), so they usually don't have enough to even dream of getting an anime made...

A lot of hentai comes from visual novels it seems... usually rape.

japan

It's not like Japanese are the only people that fetishize rape.

Oh yeah, I'm not actually having any delusions about a yuri doujin getting an anime adaption. I'm just complaining about people's taste.

This thread is making me angry at myself for not keeping up with anime in general. I didn't even know Kiniro Mosaic was a thing until I got the Kawaii Desu mod for EUIV.

There's so much anime for me to watch that despair is all I feel when I see this thread...

Between all the anime, manga, games, books and everything else I want to do, I am angry at life for being so finite. How dare it! I need to live forever else I'll never get all that I wish done...

P.S. Searching for that other download link is proving to be a pain, but I WILL find it.

I tried to watch Kiniro Mosaic.

My brain almost melted from the overwhelming cheesiness.

Okay, it's highschool girls being very gay for other highschool girls, but this pushes it too far. I could watch Acchi Kocchi without batting an eye, but Kiniro Mosaic made me want to punch my screen.

I'd trade Kiniro Mosaic for another season of Sakura Trick any day. It was way more entertaining.

Well, Sakura Trick is yuri and Kiniro Mosaic is subtext, you can't really compare those two.

Don't really remember much about it except for that I liked it so I can't really comment on the pushing it to far thing. I don't think "pushing it to far" exists, though.

Acchi kocchi isn't even subtext (at least I didn't see it), most of it is het while Kiniro Mosaic is at the limit of subtext and yuri. The aim is completely different.

You must not like subtext. Personally, I liked Kiniro because it's one of the anime that goes the farthest in term of subtext. At least, Aya and Alice are clearly gay.

Is KinMoza subtext? It's not actually ambiguous

So, on this season: Re-Kan and Mikagura continue as they started. Euphonium is strikingly gay for something people insist won't be yuri; like, there's a random girl declaring her love for another, and something like half of Asuka's lines are flirting. Pleiades spent it's second episode building up the yuri subtext, to the point that the one guy was giving relationship advice

Well, I think it's yuri. I also think Saki and Nanoha are yuri. They're not yuri series but series with yuri. I'm not really clear on the borders between yuri and subtext but the world doesn't seem to agree with me at least.

I agree with you, it's not really ambiguous but it's like NanoFate totally gay but not said clearly/officially. I sure you can still find people saying they are all just very good friends

Hee ? I didn't mind the subtext. That was the most fun aspect of Kiniro. That's even why I wanted to give it a try.

Aya is clearly gay for Yoko. And Alice for Shinobu.

But the whole schtick of cute girls doing cute nothings went overboard there for me. The voice acting didn't help either. The hyper high pitched voices of all the cast, almost undistinguishable from each other, was getting on my nerves. And the fact that the characters (especially Alice and Shinobu) look like lolis didn't make me want anything to happen between them. I'd feel like a creep to watch these characters kiss.

I compared it to Acchi Kocchi, because it's a slice-of-life-moe-up-the-butt anime, like Kiniro (without the subtext).

The subtext in Kiniro is actually the only thing that makes it fun and made me laugh. But once you got the couples, well nothing really happens.

I didn't really hate Kiniro actually. I just found it very easily predictable and forgettable.
