I don't see how anyone would take issue with you starting a Discord server for your translations. If the Shuukura server mods are going to be hypocrites... fools... severely misguided in their belief that translations shouldn't be discussed (despite almost everyone reading them), then the only option is to create another place where you can freely discuss those translations.

To be fair the translation is being discussed, just not allowed to be promoted. And it's only one admin. From what I can tell most people there are reading Angela's translation because anytime I've seen someone quote from one of the early chapters it's been from her translation. But I definitely think she should start her own discord. I've never really used it before but I kind of like the functionality of it. It makes it easy to have quick short discussions about the story where this forum is better for posting long thoughts. I've had some really fun discussions over there. I think they both have their merits and serve different purposes.

The only issue I take with threads in general is that they're often so well hidden. I also don't know how I'd feel about promoting/linking the Dynasty Scans Discord server on my blog, haha. Not that there's anything wrong with the DS server. I know there's a lot of overlap between DS readers and ShuuKura readers, but having them join an entirely unrelated server for my translations might not sit well with everyone.

It would make sense if I was only advertising my translations here, to existing Dynasty users.

It'd be cool to have both though. But I wonder if that means I should upload the chapters on Dynasty as well.

One of the shorter and less eventful chapters I've read in awhile. Just mostly Sendai being in a super good mood after her birthday. Looks like the festival date is coming up very soon...possibly even next chapter.

Then again, it's not nearly as exciting as the previous interlude where they get a bit frisky in the entryway as Sendai's taking off her wet clothes.
The only additional insight we get from this interlude is Sendai's depressing thoughts about how much her mother ignores her. It was nice to read the current JP chapter afterwards to see a super happy Sendai enjoying her life sharing an apartment with Miyagi.

I find it funny how Sendai already sees Miyagi as incapable of doing something as simple as picking out stuff from a convenenience store for someone who's sick. And Sendai doesn't view that negatively. She loves taking care of Miyagi...a bit too much probably lol.

We're entering the kinda angsty part of the story where Miyagi's focusing on how they'll be separated at graduation. She's pulling away by not letting Sendai kiss her and will continue trying to distance herself.
But at the same time these are some of the best chapters with how the gay chicken plays out. I can't remember how the "trade" at the end of part 86 goes down in the next chapter but I'm pretty sure it doesn't immediately get shutdown due to Miyagi's request being too much to handle.

Anybody who's looking at this thread should definitely jump into the Shuukura server Angela set up. We need more people to tell her to get some sleep. Also plenty of nice Shuukura fanart is being shared and there's a lot of great discussion that can sometimes stay on topic for more than 5 minutes.

Miyagi was getting upset about Sendai being gone for too long and considered she might be hanging out with someone else. A lesser novel might have started spinning this into worries about cheating, but I think Miyagi probably can't even conceive of a scenario where the super devoted Sendai would do that. Hopefully.

What stands out to me with these chapters is how stark Sendai's internal attitude shift is after the culture festival. Before the separation, you can still see her actively denying how attached she is, trying to act unbothered when they talk about the future or not being able to spend time together. You can really tell the forced distance broke whatever resolve she had left because she immediately gets way more assertive and demanding in the music room, and her internal monologue afterwards is much more honest with regards to how she feels and what she wants from her relationship with Miyagi.

The yukata prediction was an easy call to make. Though I didn't expect her to pull it from the 5000 yen fund. Sendai putting that big gay brain to use with the scheming to get Miyagi to wear yukata with her.

"I could keep moving my hand and take off her underwear, or I could press my lips to her body.

Sendai belongs to me entirely, so I can do whatever I want. She even said she’d do anything."

Miyagi sure made a quick transition from grumpy to horny. But she put on the brakes again.

“For the memory. We’re going to a festival together, so I want to do something different for a change. That kind of thing stays with you.”

Her words, which I don’t want to hear, reach my ears, and I squeeze my eyes shut.

The memories with Sendai pile up, remaining with me.

It’s not that I want to reject all of it, but I can’t catch up with my feelings. I can’t process the memories that Sendai keeps building.

Sendai always walks too fast, leaving me behind.

As I was reading Angela's recent chapters, which are putting Miyagi's abandonment issues front and center, I thought about how we haven't been touching on that subject as often in the recent JP chapters. I'm not sure if these thoughts of Miyagi's where's she can't "catch up with her feelings" are borne from those issues. I feel like this is more Miyagi coming to terms with being in love with Sendai and feeling overwhelmed by it.

Sendai leans against the bed with a resigned voice, muttering to herself, “So it’s no good, huh? What should I do with the yukata...”

She’s never forced me to do something I truly hated.

She’s always been that way.

And today is no different.

So, I won’t have to wear the yukata after all.

Relief washes over me, and I relax.

But at the same time, I feel a heaviness in my chest, as if the yukata on the bed has disappeared with her words.

I often feel like Miyagi doesn't prioritize Sendai's happiness enough, so it's nice to get a clear look into her thoughts where she's feeling guilt over disappointing Sendai. Sendai also isn't assertive enough and rarely pushes for things she wants when it's something Miyagi doesn't like. Hopefully this will be one of many examples of them improving on this going forward.

This felt like a return to form after a few kind of lackluster and short chapters recently. Hope this continues.

I can't remember the last time Shuukura made me laugh out loud. Miyagi was all certain she was going to turn down Sendai about wearing yukata and then marches over to her room with that determination. Sendai gives her a soft smile and Miyagi immediately caves. Cute! :D

She’s smiling brightly, and it’s clear she’s really looking forward to the festival today. Though I don’t intend to say it’s for her sake, today’s festival is part of her birthday present, so I can overlook a few things.

I hope Miyagi's just being a bit tsundere. Please keep "overlooking" things when it makes Sendai happy!

I'm really liking how the author is having them slowly share with their family trauma with each other. This is such a great way to show how they care for each other and are growing closer.

We're getting into the thick of the WN chapters where Miyagi is struggling with her growing feelings for Sendai but she feels that will soon be coming to an end, so she should no longer indulge in those feelings.
The biggest example of this is how she's actively avoiding kissing Sendai. She can feel them grow closer with every kiss so she tries to stop. The kissing and other intimacy feels "wrong" because they shouldn't keep getting closer when they'll soon be forever parted.
Although in Part 87 it feels "wrong" because the arousal she's feeling is so new and scary.

I keep thinking about the line in Part 88:

Besides, being in her arms like that had felt just like――

With how Miyagi's abandonment issues are in focus right now, that's almost certainly Miyagi thinking back to when her mother held her. Just terribly sad. That poor girl needs all the love and affection in the world. Luckily Sendai is ready and willing to give it to her!

in 89 we saw how her thoughts are warped by abandonment issues. Part of her was wishing Sendai had already left instead of waiting for her when Miyagi stopped to buy ingredients. Miyagi probably thinks it'd be easier if Sendai pulled away first.
And of course Miyagi just cannot imagine a happy future with Sendai right now. Even though she's taking steps toward being near Sendai with her college exam application, she refuses to give voice to such thoughts. The brain can be cruel when it warps the way you think so you can't accurately perceive the reality around you.

I think this is the saddest stretch of Shuukura chapters. I can't remember how long it is until Sendai makes her move by getting them an apartment, but that marks the end of those sad times and it can't come soon enough.

It's usually a nice change of pace to have one of the characters away from the other and spending time with other people. I wish we'd get more of it in the current WN chapters because someone like Noto has the potential to be a significant agent of progress for the two.

Sendai's time with Miyagi has been a sexual awakening for her and she's discovering she has a very healthy libido. I wouldn't be surprised if this becomes a minor conflict between the two at some point. It's quite common for a couple to need to work towards a compromise in the frequency of sex when there's a gap in the strength of their libidos. And it seems like Sendai's is quite a bit higher than Miyagi's, who doesn't seem to get horny nearly as often.

In Part 90 we have the phone call that starts getting sexually suggestive despite them merely talking about Sendai's pendant. It was pretty funny how the author wrote that to be similar to phone sex. Even Miyagi was getting worked up from it.

Then in Part 89 we have Sendai reflecting on a slightly erotic dream (although according to her it's not as erotic as some of her previous dreams). She's definitely feeling some sexual frustration and it's got her feeling a bit cranky. Add onto that her general feelings of unease towards the state of her relationship with Miyagi, the cold weather, and her "friends" bugging her about "boyfriend" stuff and you have a recipe for Sendai feeling like she's about to snap. She "jokingly" swatted Umina's hand away from the pendant, but only after she stopped herself from reflexively swatting her hand away when Umina first reached for it. You're poking a bear, Umina...it might maul you if you're not careful.

This made me think about how in the recent JP WN chapters, we'd been seeing Miyagi making an effort towards getting Sendai to expand her world beyond focusing exclusively on her. Operation: Make Sendai and Mio REAL Friends.
It's actually a bit of a surprising development, considering how Miyagi often feels jealousy over Sendai. But yeah Sendai needs actual friends in general just because it's good for your mental health. Especially because it will help keep her from going full yandere, which is a route I could see an "Alt Universe" Sendai going down. This isn't that type of story though. Sendai will just have borderline-yandere thoughts like wishing her and Miyagi were the only 2 people left in the world.
I am joking about yandere Sendai...mostly.

Angela's translations are not only a great way to reread one of my favorite stories and catch things I missed in the MTL, but also these older chapters often reflect some of what's been happening recently in the JP WN chapters.

Once again, if you're reading my blog this thread, you should check out Angela's Discord server. We talk about Shuukura fairly often (when Angela and the younger folks aren't derailing the conversation) :P

I enjoyed this story a lot more than I expected. At first I thought Shuukura belonged to one of those industrial generic LN because of its long ass title (then again, guess they gotta do what they can to gain attention in this world full of words for titles). After reading like 2 chapters of the manga, it piqued my interest then I speed ran through 90~ish chapters in 2 days lmao. Thank you Angela so much for translating. It's very fortune that I got to read your translation before seeing MTL one.
The strongest point of Shuukura is that its storytelling can be strongly captivating. Shuukura, even with Miyagi and Sendai tiptoeing for god knows how long, is rather straight forward with its story. All the existed events has been fulfilling their purposes well enough, which was pushing the plot to keep going or building personalities/creating development within characters. Its course of events happened like a train going on its journey with a fixed destionation in mind, created a weird satisfied feeling for readers. It does feel nice to read a story that has author who clearly know what they want to write and achieve with the world they built up. The way Haneda Usa swapping Miyagi and Sendai's perspectives played an important part into keeping the story fresh. I kept wondering what the heck was going in Miyagi's head in Sendai pov and vice versa. The more I read, the more I got to learn about them, the more it stirred my curiosity toward them and their progress. Haneda's style actually reminded me of Minato Kanae's works but gayer so sometimes Shuukura pacing makes me feel like reading a mystery novel in romance form lol

I think it's funny to imagine a meeting between the four girls. I can just see Miyagi and Adachi sitting there glaring daggers at each other thinking don't touch my woman, while Sendai and Shimamura sit there having a pleasant chat. Not that Shima is very social but she could at least hold a conversation.

AdaShima and MiyaSendai (?) meeting can be very interesting in a meaning that they probably won't hold much interest toward the other pair. You have girls in cute SoL go kya kya everytime they make friends while these 4 would just pratice minimum socializing needed to not get in troubles. Well at least Miyagi is capable of holding conversation and making friends like a normal person in society. Adachi would probably... think of where she and Shimamura could go for a date instead of like, considering befriending them.
