I don't see how anyone would take issue with you starting a Discord server for your translations. If the Shuukura server mods are going to be hypocrites... fools... severely misguided in their belief that translations shouldn't be discussed (despite almost everyone reading them), then the only option is to create another place where you can freely discuss those translations.

To be fair the translation is being discussed, just not allowed to be promoted. And it's only one admin. From what I can tell most people there are reading Angela's translation because anytime I've seen someone quote from one of the early chapters it's been from her translation. But I definitely think she should start her own discord. I've never really used it before but I kind of like the functionality of it. It makes it easy to have quick short discussions about the story where this forum is better for posting long thoughts. I've had some really fun discussions over there. I think they both have their merits and serve different purposes.

You could also see if the Dynasty Discord mods would be open to having a thread for your translation. Built-in audience.

Good idea, I agree

Also wondering if I should start a Discord server for my translations (of course, discussions about spoilers would be welcome in separate channels as well), but I feel like it'd be a total ghost town. And not entirely sure about how well that'd go considering there's already a ShuuKura unofficial server, but we'll see. Any thoughts?

As I said, I think you should go for it. Naturally it might be a ghost town at first but you got to start somewhere. And it doesn't necessarily have to be any kind of direct competition to the other unofficial Discord. It would more specifically be a Discord relating to your particular translation. And as James said, if they don't like it, fuck 'em. I'm paraphrasing of course LOL

Another crazy Sendai thought

I swear, one day when this translation is much farther ahead I really want to compile a collection of all of Sendai's crazy, unhinged quotes. She really has some great ones throughout the story. From wanting to fall through the pits of hell, to destroying everyone on the earth except her and Miyagi, to being able to see inside Miyagi's body lol. The girl is seriously crazy and borderline yandere and I absolutely love it.

I can relate to Miyagi way too much in this chapter. The whole thing about visiting somebody unannounced and then having to likely deal with her cold mother would just be incredibly awkward.

"It's a good thing that she found Sendai"

There should be a word for this particular type of story. Much like AdaShima it's about two girls who are mentally broken in different ways magically finding their perfect partner. It's just such a heartwarming thing to read. Knowing that they're pretty much destined for each other because they probably wouldn't be able to find another partner that would be willing to put up with their shit lol.

"tries to leave the bag on the door and run away."

This is totally something I would do lol. Like okay I've gone enough out of my comfort zone, this is too much now.

It was nice to see the rare thoughtful Miyagi this chapter.

I felt like we were hitting a lull, and then along comes comes chapter 80. This series keeps hitting those moments of tension like nothing else can. The gay chicken continues onwards.

This story is kind of like the tide, it ebbs and flows. It brilliantly weaves through highs and lows constantly leaving us with little cliffhangers that makes you look forward to the next chapter. Lol, not trying to sound too poetic here but I think that's the best way to explain it.

She's simply afraid of being abandoned, and a common tactic is to "hurt before you can get hurt," which is exactly what Miyagi tends to do.

Anybody who's read the story should remember this was totally expressed the time that she dumped popcorn and soda on Sendai. She was literally trying to do exactly what you said. Hurt Sendai so that she would leave her on her own specifically because of something that Miyagi did rather than something else out of her control.

try to avoid taking actions the other will dislike

Like I just said, there is at least one instance where Miyagi specifically tried to do something that Sendai wouldn't like. But damn if it didn't make for a really cute point in the story. I think it was the first time Sendai actually went out of her way to try and continue their relationship. Showing that, by that point in the story, she was already really reliant on Miyagi.

Also I've noticed Miyagi in the light novel appears much less grumpy than in the manga. It's interesting to see two slightly different interpretations of her character.

I enjoy the manga for giving us a visual representation of the story but I don't think it's ever going to really be able to capture the written story as it is. I'm kind of viewing it as an alternate telling of the story which is still fun to read.

And before I forget, Happy Birthday to Miyagi Shiori.

Here's a really cute picture of the two of them. I tried posting it myself but couldn't figure that shit out.

Yay! You're at Chapter 80 now!

We're only about 40 chapters away from probably the best part of the whole story. Seriously can't wait till we get there, I'm super excited to read a proper translation of it.

「I’m in pain, though.」
「You do that.」

I don't know why but that just made me laugh so hard. Like "yeah you do that, go ahead be in pain" lol.

I don't know how you guys managed to read so much of it. To me, I just feel like all I'm getting from it is, "oh, they kissed in chapter 34," or, "oh, Miyagi gave her a necklace in chapter 79," but nothing more.

That's pretty much exactly how it felt reading the whole thing. It really is an embarrassingly bad translation and, to me at least literally sounds like a robot. Which I guess it essentially is. My inner voice while I was reading it was just completely monotone. But I think it just goes to show how good the story as a whole is that so many of us suffered through it just to be able to see what would happen next.

And about the catch phrase, I like to think that Miyagi's is "you're an erotic demon Sendai-san" lol

Someday, I hope everything we use will be chosen by Miyagi. If everything around me was touched by her, I’m sure I’d be even happier.

When I translated it through chatGPT "touched" was translated as "chosen." Makes a little more sense. Sendai wants everything she sees in their apartment to have been picked out by Miyagi so she's always reminded of her.

I don't know if we can read that as her disliking it (hopefully). The necklace "felt a bit too cute for my taste. It seemed like it would probably suit Miyagi better". And as we know, Sendai will quickly grow very attached to the necklace since it's a gift from Miyagi.

I hope so too, but this being the first time I've read a proper translation of that chapter it kind of went down different than I remembered. I was kind of disappointed in Sendai that she didn't have anything to say about the pendant. She gave no opinion at all of whether she liked it or thought it was nice or not. And then she kind of rudely closed the box back up without even asking if she could put it on or anything. I was kind of viewing this scene through Miyagi's eyes and cringing pretty hard thinking "oh God she hates it." I guess Miyagi didn't see it that way, thankfully, as she opened the box back up and forced her to put it on in the end. But yes, some of us know it ended up becoming one of her most prized possessions.

I don't know how many other people felt this way when reading the MTL (I don't read it anymore or read ahead at all for that matter), but personally, I thought Miyagi seemed way colder and expressionless in it. I was also under the impression that Sendai was a super saint cranked up to the max, but it turns out that Miyagi has more feelings than I expected and Sendai can get really annoyed. Maybe I'll give the MTL a reread up to where I'm at (79).

That's EXACTLY the case. It's been awhile since I've read the early chapters of the MTL but I definitely don't remember many instances in it of Miyagi showing a lot of emotion, maybe that was just down to poor translation. But I just got done reading through the ePub version and with your translation it definitely paints her in a much different light. I totally forgot how expressive she was in the beginning compared to how she is currently in the story. Hope that's not too much of a spoiler.

So I decided to reread again because the ePub file makes it so easy, and I have no life, and I totally forgot how Miyagi was in the beginning. Compared to where the story currently is she was actually normal and even frequently smiled at Sendai, even if it was only when she was being nasty to her, lol. There was even the time she was being really friendly and chatting with her and they played a video game together. I think Angela's most recently translated chapter, 79, is the grumpiest she's been to Sendai up to that point in the story. The way Miyagi is now I can't even imagine her talking to Sendai without frowning. I'm starting to think Miyagi's grumpiness is proportional to her love for Sendai. It's almost like the more she realizes she loves her the worse her mood gets.

Ooh, I just started playing that recently and it's really damn fun. But between playing that on my phone and Genshin Impact on the big screen I'll probably stick with GI. But Star Rail will be a good time killer when I'm not at home at least.

Not long after I started playing I randomly found this animated short. The art and choreography and music in it are beautiful.

Hey, hey, don't shoot the messenger. I'm just repeating what I read lol. But I agree, you would think any way to bring more notice to the novel would be a good thing.

I wouldn't say they're particularly hostile. It just seems that the admin is being overly cautious of not wanting to step on the author's toes or run into any copyright problems. They also mentioned wanting to direct as much traffic to the authors site as possible as another reason they don't want unofficial translations being promoted. Oh well, their loss.

So here's the Discord I mentioned. I just figured out tonight you have to read the rules and hit the little check mark to "unlock" the other channels. It's pretty active and seems like a fun community.

This is so unfair, Japanese people get so much cool content. Just found this on the Shuukura Discord. I guess it's an ad for a PV but obviously can't understand it. If nothing else there's some pretty cool visuals in it.

"A short-sleeved blouse hung from a hanger on the wall of my room—it was Miyagi’s."

Lmao, Sendai had her own personal Miyagi Shrine in her room. I love the thought of her kneeling and praying to it "please let me kiss you as much as I want the next time I see you."

"Plus, even if I chose to stay here, I couldn’t picture a future where Miyagi walked alongside me."

I'd love to be able to give this Sendai a view of her future with her not-roommate Miyagi.

Okay, I feel like you picked a particularly unflattering picture there. I've seen others and they're usually pretty gorgeous looking. But who knows, maybe this is actually a hint as to how Sendai really looks. She may actually have a really big schnoz and Miyagi is just into that. After all, the only description we really have of Sendai is how Miyagi sees her.

"wow they're finally making tons of progress! Maybe soon they'll be ready to admit their feelings!"

It really is fun reading these earlier chapters knowing where the story is now. The amount of progress they've made has simultaneously been a lot and also barely any. While their physical relationship has increased by leaps and bounds they're still just as emotionally stunted as they were in these chapters. I'd really like to see Miyagi's inner thoughts on her actual feelings for Sendai but the girl seems to avoid them like the plague.

I don't know the first thing about cats, since I love dogs and own one, so I guess if I ever get another one, I have to name it Hazuki or something.

I've also heard that people that are cat-like in nature prefer dogs and vice versa, but there's no way that's true, right?

Well obviously it would have to be a borzoi, you can adopt a rescued one for around $450. Yes I've looked into it.
I've never heard that before but it could make sense. I've been told I'm dog-like with my use of affection and praise. I don't think it was meant in a bad way lol.
