I mean, Happy Sugar Life got an anime, and this is a pretty similar level of fucked up (maybe a little more), so it's not impossible. I think it's definitely a story that deserves telling
From a societal perspective, yeah.
The topic most people regard most terrible in Happy Sugar Life is the pedophilic age gap, it's a grave crime in our society, but that's not all there is about their relationship. Satou and Shio are very respectful towards each other, without any coercion, violence and anger directed at each other. Satou did hide things from Shio, but they came to an understanding even after Shio witnessed Satou's murders (which were only done out of necessity), without any deliberate physiological trickery. (If we consider the power dynamic, I think Shio is slightly above Satou, even!). And in the end, both of them truly loved each other, so much that Satou sacrificed herself to save Shio, and Shio's heart is forever occupied by Satou.
From a purely psychological viewpoint, I would dare say that Airi and Hinako are multiple times more twisted in the head than Satou and Shio could ever be. The amount of abuse these girls do to each other is insane, from Airi's physical torture/control to Hinako's mental manipulation. Even worse, while Hinako was obsessed with her love, Airi stayed selfish until her final moments, never truly caring about Hinako.
Don't get me wrong, it's clear that the relationships in both series are very toxic and fucked up, I'm just making a comparison.
