I feel like in a lot of animes, there is that one character that is always a top with no exceptions

I'm feeling the same amount of discomfort I felt when I found out the plural of Pokemon, is Pokemon :( ^
Japanese doesn't pluralize any of its words. Closest it comes is the "-tachi" suffix which basically means "and those associated with them."

That's... not entirely true, but the exceptions are dependent on the specific word
