I think she recognizes that Ayano is awkwardly trying to get closer to her and tries to leave her some openings.
When Ayano gives Kyouko permission to hold her hand in the omake, I was so proud of her. Kyouko gives her plenty of room and Ayano, slowly, is growing into and maybe beyond it.
I wonder whether Namori is aware of how compelling a plot strand she's weaving with Kyouko and Ayano. Namori is a very self-aware and deviously brilliant mangaka, so I trust she is.
