Super Metroid Samus was still kinda skinny (or slim, I guess) but with defined thigh muscles and a hint of abs. She's built like a gymnast more than a bodybuilder.
Although she was still more muscular than in Zero Mission, that is true.

@Serenata It is good. We player finally have some roles in the story this time and not just a silent bystander!
