Well, the groping was a gag you see in manga a lot so not necessarily yuri on its own, but the talking about her feelings towards Ran that preceded it? Yeah, that changes the context a lot.

That's still bait in some cases, I can say those things about a friend I know.

Although that whole bit of not being lonely is important it's not unique to lovers. For example, after college and getting my first job and all I shared an apartment with another guy. I wasn't lonely at all and didn't actively need a girl, we just talk vidya games and stuff.
