even tho i just finished watching S1 & S2 of love live, i don't get why ppl are making doujins off of maki x nico. i mean, maki's my favorite one in the group cuz she's so chill & nonchalant but there was barely any interaction between maki x nico. i just wish this doujin was in the actual anime / story.

Okay, from those first two chapters I can totally see a Graduate moment coming towards the end.

People ship NicoMaki because it's the best, even without being in the anime lol. Well, I pretty much have also only watched the anime myself, so go here: http://nikomaki.tumblr.com/tagged/nicomaki for some non-anime stuff which has been translated.

I can't even really tell why I've begun to like NicoMaki so much; a big issue I had even a couple weeks ago was that most of the doujins never really explore how/why Nico and Maki came to be attracted to each other. I guess I might've been stuck in an 'anime-only' continuity state of mind. After reading more doujins and side-materials I've started to feel that Nico/Maki's weird tension/attraction is just a natural part of them, but I've still been looking for a meaty doujin which really got into the emotions and basis of their relationship. The story here looks it could be just that; I've been really impressed with these last two chapters.

Well, there's many reasons why people ship Nico and Maki. In the manga, there's details on the story that are a bit different in the anime. Nico, for example, she's a bit more mature and she's close to Maki. In the game, there's a chapter where they are interacting pretty close, Maki shares some thing with Nico and Nico tries to help her. In the anime, there is actually Nico and Maki moments going on like on episode two with them sharing the potato. There are still many more reasons at why they ship them, but I don't want to ramble on.
