Just came up with a context:

Renowned police chief A-san (aka "Chief") and her deputy B-san are attending a criminal justice conference out-of-town. Strict budget limitations require attendees from the same precinct room together for the duration of the trip.

Exhaustion from the drives and connecting flights inspired unanimous support for an early night. In the interest of not feeling guilty while her junior stumbled around in the dark to find her bed, A-san flipped through the channels on the hotel TV to postpone turning out the lights as B-san took the second shower. By the time B-san finished drying her hair, A-san was seemingly engrossed in a documentary curiously adorned with a laugh track. The show looked interesting and the early hour was almost over, so B-san took up a post on the couch and waited for the numbing effects of televised entertainment to compliment the jet lag and lull her into a more fully sedated state.

Just as the host began outlining the conclusion, B-san suppressed a jolt of surprise from the feeling of the Chief's head lolling onto her shoulder...
