I loved the first chapter. It's such a shame that so few yuri LN are translated, and even less good ones... Not to mention that 3/4 of the good ones have a shitty translation.

Anyway... I accidentaly spoiled myself with the last illustration of the novel and I'm really looking forward to it and can't wait.

Because many people on this site act like they were born yesterday. Something about this community attracts a lot of newbies. We had someone who wanted to change the title of that oneeloli hentai doujin because "hentai" was apparently not enough to tell them what was going on in it.

When people read something that basically starts with "Look at them trees, being all green and shit." and praise it for it's quality I wouldn't exactly call them spoiled. More like ... generous. Undemanding. Charitable.

Except when you didn't even bother to check quality, because you assumed all books are the same and not worth your time.

And if you are going to argue, book is not just its first line, but entire thing, so if you judge it based on 1 sentence it is the same as basing it on its cover. And before you tell me first sentence has to catch audience attention and pool them in, the only reason is has to, is because people nowadays has no patience and attention span. It is good to have good hook immediately, but you can as well make a very good first paragraph. In fact before having just good first chapter, that would be interesting, was enough. But nowadays people are so easily distracted and lose interest so fast, you have to grab their attention the second they lay their eyes on your thing and force them to care. That is why nowadays most stuff has to open with explosion or action, because otherwise people don't care. So yes, I call them spoiled.

Well, if it helps, that opening line was so plain and unforgiviably bland I had to keep reading just to find more sentences like that. I'll probably read it two or three more times later just to highlight them. It makes for a good read if you take it for what lightnovels are: light reading. They aren't ASOIAF or James Patterson length, but they make for quick readings, so everything feels rushed. It's just a bonus that it's yuri and pretty unique to be mostly text. Last time I saw lightnovels on here was the Sono Hana uploads. New people to this site wouldn't know those existed unless they were curious enough to look anyways. (Haaaa been on lurking on this site ever since Wings of Yuri had this site as a partners link god i feel old DX...)

Personally, I would love more yuri media be it anime, manga or novel form. Think of it this way: eventually, like all the yuri content here, it'll be forgotten once another (hopefully BDSM & inane amount of sex tagged) yuri smutfest doujin comes out. Like that Dog's Desire one.

Edit: jesus fucking christ I checked way back to see how long I've been around Wings of Yuri/Dynasty Reader. 10 years. That's a lot of yuri I absorbed. Thank you, Dynasty, for fueling half my entire highschool and college years with yuri TTwTT

Both true. But that doesn't cover more people than those that are praising it, so I'm still not buying the "everyone these days is just too lazy to read!" statement; at least among those that bothered to comment it seems people are pretty fine with reading and enjoying it ;)

Yeah, and that's why I wasn't sure how critical I wanted to be - the translation at least is clearly not at fault (compared to some others). But I have read a lot of light/web novels. And there's still a large difference between something that at least makes up for simple prose and run-away pace by being original, by being tense, by taking surprising twists and turns ...

Amen to that. I've read fanfictions smuttier than this, but sometimes it's nice to just have different. Some doujin/manga series on this site make me want to claw my eyes out with how bad the dialogue and pacing is. With this, I kinda actually like the characters, even if they are pretty one dimensional (gotta have my guilty pleasures somewhere) and I want to see world-building because the premise and setting actually intrigue me. I could drop it like a bad habit, but I already put about 2 hours into this, I have to see where it's going. Maybe it'll even get better, who knows?
