I wonder if they will make this story diverge from the movie's, like they did with the previous movie manga.
Also I have the feeling that this translation is not very accurate in some parts, but this is a new group so there's room for improvement.

I love how Fate only looks at Nanoha. ^^ And the way she holds her hand.

This is a good reading, I simply love it.

This feels kind of like someone's first outing as a mangaka.

Hot take: translators should leave their snarky comments in the comments section or credits page at the end of wherever they want to post their translations, and not directly on the pages of their translations.

Well it's being advertised as a side story, so I'm thinking this will be more of StrikerS manga fare. Since they ran out of space/time in the main thing to do additional character development they'll do it here. Like the next issue is Kyrie meeting Iris as a kid.

Well, I never claimed to be great, buuut since noone was going to translate this...In any case, I'm interested, which part do you think was most problematic from the accuracy standpoint. I'm interested.

Like I said before, try not to put stuff like translation notes and snarky comments in the manga.

About that "Tonkatsu" "Soba" "Donburi" "Tempura" sequence on page 21: you either need to translate those words or leave them alone. Don't half-ass it by putting the words in quotation marks and giving a TL note for 3 out of the 4.

You also need to break this up into two parts.

I am not a fan but the story ain't that bad.

I wasn't half assing them. They were in quotations in the original for a VERY good reason. They are being spoken of by FOREIGNERS, not native Japanese, and as such t indicates their unfamiliarity with local cuisine that they are learning about. As such a valuable part of subtext would be lost if I translated it or removed the quotes.

OH. Huh, that skipped past all checks. I did not make a note what soba is... oh wow, I confused them didn't I? Donburi is generic term for rice with some food and soba are the noodles? Then again I'm going at this from dictionary since I have no idea of ins and outs of Japanese cuisine.
Okay yeah, the note then has a mistake. Bummer.

As for the bubble, it does have an nontraditional layout but it's easier and more natural to read than finishing one bubble and then having to scan UP for the start of the next. This works for Japanese since in manga, due to their way of writing, but not as much for western world.

The thing that is a problem with that bubble is that translation since I could never pin the exact meaning of that one despite consulting quite a few people who knew the language. Well meaning other than Fate is being Fate.

I remember these characters. I played Nanoha Gears of Destiny few years back but it looks like the story is different from one another.

Yeah. As someone translating the Gears of Destiny right now (in form of YouTube videos), I have to say I think I very much preffer the GoD version of the story. AND the characters. Kyrie there is not this much of an idiot, or a crybaby. Damit I want my jackass Kyrie.

It's good to see that NanoFate's mamas are serious adults that are making sure their daughters get used to child labour before they join the TSAB full time. I don't think a regular waitress job will be enough to prepare Nanoha for getting impaled by a robot.
