Cosplayer Kuro Akagi posted a four-page manga about Asperger syndrome on Twitter on Sunday. Asperger syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder, and the manga reflects Akagi's own experiences as a child. Akagi said she hopes the manga helps educate people who are unfamiliar with Asperger's and support people worrying about the disorder.

Just going to step in and caution people against the usual meme garbage you find online mocking people with aspergers or other forms of autism. That stuff will get deleted on sight.

As to the comic itself, it looks really good and we could stand a bunch more of the same.

I know first-hand how hard it is living with autism. It's like being born on a completely different planet than everybody else. Kudos to this artist for finding positivity in that situation and trying to help other people understand.

I thought it was cute, is nice that someone with enough influence is able to share a comic like that and it quickly becomes popular, because of the medium and the presentation.
I drew her yesterday... But now that I think about it, maybe she would look more like Renge from Non Non Biyori

Like if Renge was in middle school.

That's pretty good Serenata! You should tweet it to her, I'm sure she would love it.

As a person who actually was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome this is most certainly a very pleasant surprise. The whole deal with taking things literally hits way to close to home. I've had way to many instances in my real life where a person would say something to me that's clearly intended as a joke, but I would still read to deep into it and sometimes even spend the rest of the day thinking about it, It's a really horrible habit of mine. Anyways, this was very nice to read and I honestly would like to see more manga in general feature autistic characters.

Thank you, well, I just replied the original post ... Not sure if she saw it, but that's fine. I don't really want to push a direct answer from her

As someone who has a history of tripping on smooth level floors I know the feeling all too well. (Though I never have trouble on uneven ground somehow...)

As another Aspie, I find this pretty neat.

From experience with my Aspergers/ASD, the frustration with vague instructions/directions hits close to home.

When my kid was diagnosed with Asperger's in high school, one of the first things I told them was, "When someone asks how you are doing, they don't actually want to know." It was like a light turned on and so many of their awkward interactions suddenly made sense. As someone who wasn't diagnosed, I was probably in my thirties before I figured out that I should just respond "good," "fine," "great," and neither give nor expect a real response.

I'm glad to see something like this. Almost wish they'd make it school curriculum. Almost.

Has anyone been doing an ongoing translation of this? I notice on her Pixiv page (https://www.pixiv.net/user/24389117/series/27687) there are now 10 chapters (with the most recent just posted a few days ago)
