Playing the games helps. To help with the name memorization you also get the game and stage they appeared in, their song, and bullet pattern. Trying to 1cc the game will pretty much guarantee you'll see the names enough to remember them.

I got to say I'm confused when looking at Reimu. Apparently it's cold enough to wear a scarf, but not cold enough to cover your shoulders.

Unless she's Sora no Amagumo's version of Reimu, that is.

^ you need to watch more anime. Everytime winter comes around, the anime girls will wear thick winter coats and scarves but their skirts will never extend past their knees.
