If you're still looking for yuri anime, "Regalia: The Three Sacred Stars" has resumed airing as of 2 weeks ago, and focuses on a canon yuri pairing as well as 2 other implied pairings that're not outright confirmed.
The first 4 eps that aired during early Summer are now airing again with new animation + sound and some minor added scenes, and it'll continue into late Fall 2016.
is it a canon yuri pairing or a "canon yuri" pairing?
i.e. is it fully knowledge as a pairing or just subtext?
^ the main characters shares matching rings, openly proclaims their love for the other and generally call their outings as dates, all in the first ep. Again, close to canon yuri as you can get nowadays between subtext and Valkyrie Drive levels

Keep the recommendation coming if you have more :D
One thing to point out about Regalia is the great action with 2D mechas. I'm not even a mecha fan and I thought it amazing.
So finally watched that Bodacious Space Pirates (2014) movie.
My thought: the second half of it badly let it down. It literally discarded all of the main cast into secondary support roles (they focused only on that shota new character), just to promote the director theme of space exploring. Literally, it could have been another entirely different unrelated anime. A very crappy one in fact (3/10), where scientific-wise it didn't even make sense to the rest of the story, and the character depth is more shallow than a puddle under the sun. They even tried to force-ship the younger princess with that new shota character for no reason. The two literally only met for a couple of hours and had like 5 lines with each other
Discarding the second half however, the first was real good (9/10). Marika was on top form with her nonchalantly being awesome. Like at one point during the movie, I was unable to count who could escape her eventual harem. Once she hit 18, she probably will just wake up one random morning "being covered with bitches". With a (sleeping) blushing Chiaki on one side, and a (sleeping) mischivious Gruier on another, and a bunch more around her legs.
Best part, she probably will just get out of bed, dress herself up, silently close the door nonchalantly, and get to work like it's a normal thing to do.

I haven't watched it yet (Blu Ray on shelf lol) but wow that sonds really disappointing about the second half.
I haven't watched it yet (Blu Ray on shelf lol) but wow that sonds really disappointing about the second half.
The more I thought about it, the dumber it gets. Especially when the first half was really exciting
I don't know if it even worth the spoils. But long story short, think of an example of a great doctor, who by the end of his life found the cure of cancer by himself. But he was hiding every finding he had in a safe with basic medical puzzle locks. So that if his shota son can decide to become a doctor, he can open the safe and "find" the cure of cancer during his first day to boost his early career. At the cost of the rest of the society as millions could be saved if it was published early. Think of something like that but instead of curing cancer, it's space traveling.
And to add in the insult. The original theme of it was about how the shota tried to escape the name of his famous father. Hey, kid, your father literally spoon-fed you from A-Z by building a machine where as long as he wants to become space explorer, it will literally do everything for him, including changing his dress. I'm not kidding
And he only stopped hating his father when he realised that he is inherited all of the credits for his father works

Ange vierge is low key generic trash, but I likeit, its decent enough actually. The plot is repetitive but idk, im not bored or anything. Lol im not making it sound it great but like, its not, but its not awful or anything. Irs pretty gay too
@Rina what was the egdy mainstream anime from last season?
And why is Regalia airing already, the new anime season hasnt begun yet? :0 Are the new/updated episodes uploaded online and all too? Will those replace the originally aired ones? I havent gotten to it yet, but when I do, I'd prefer to watch the 'perfected' eps
I havent gotten to it yet, but when I do, I'd prefer to watch the 'perfected' eps
I personally would want to be able to watch both versions and compare them.

Re:zero (if anyone likes it, I've no interest in discussing about it.)
And Regalia resumed airing on Sep 1, the new eps are currently on the cat meow dl site subbed, ep 5 will air alongside the Fall 2016 anime when they start.

So it ended up being bad? I thought it was considered to be good (didn't watch it).
Re:Zero is an ok anime. But I don't consider it the masterpiece as some other fans. It's not something crazy that hasn't been shown before, but the story is still interesting and easy to watch.
My main problem is the characters and the MC. I want to like him, but he is just so annoying. Since the story and the rest of the characters revolve around him, and end up praising him, I at least would like him to be praise-worthy.
Also Rem, the second girl that is in love with him(the main girl is not exactly in love with him yet) is the ultimate waifu for many fans of the show, but I find that she has lost her character in an attempt to boost the MC. It seems like she's one of these type that constantly say how great the mc is, but their words are actually cliche and a bit meaningless. hides from Re:Zero and Rem fans
Best anime this season is Danganronpa 3, 10/10 by far the rest. Great story, amazing characters, plot and feels. Definetely would recommend anyone to watch it.
Also about some yuri shows. I only watched Ange Vierge, and unfortunately it is dissapointing yuri-wise. the story is not that boring, it's ok.
Best couple was Sofina and Almaria and they had to destroy it by making Almaria lust after MC's blood, and turn the MC into a harem protagonist.
Also best girl and potential couple got only one episode, while some other more boring girls got two episodes. So dissapointing.
I tried to watch Love Live but I really find it very difficult, even if there is yuri. I can't finish a single episode of idol-type animes

I was mainly interested in watching it because I saw some scenes and it have female characters kicking ass which I didn't see in some time, so I was considering giving it a shot.
Well it's worth watching, but I can't really say that the female characters kick ass to be honest. I see them as side characters that (some of them) pander to the mc. But again that's just me.
So it ended up being bad? I thought it was considered to be good (didn't watch it).
I believe there're 3 forms of good; personal good, true good, and overhyped good.
Re:zero falls into the 3rd category where almost everyone in the anime "community" seems to be trying to place it on some kind pedestal that it doesn't deserve to be on. The story is hardly original, the main MC is a bit of an annoying prick, the girls seem to be added in there to either die or suffer just to progress the MC's "development"; meanwhile, ppl are praising it to be "so unbelievably deep" and "realistic" in showing the flaws of the MC in relation to humans...because all otakus/hikkikomoris have some deluded sense of grandeur when they go to an alternate reality right?
It seems like many ppl are confusing dark and wannabe edgy with dark and deep with emotional resonance: Killing oneself over and over to "change events" does not a deep and impactful story make if the character is an annoying little prick for over half of the anime. Saya no Uta is something I find to be incredibly grimdark but it doesn't veer into excessively edgy territory, it engages it's players to choose if they want to relate to Fuminori and grant him "happiness" with Saya, or if they would rather side with the human characters in the game; it's bittersweet and cynical in every aspect and rather subtly manipulates the player into descending deeper into psychosis with the MC, I think that is how you do grimdark without making things "so edgy for the sake of being darker".
Even in the emotional aspect of things I find it a bit superficial and fake to kill off characters only to bring them back on screen a few eps later. Okada Mari may be a controversial director in some of her works, but her works are genuinely emotional when it comes to it; I mean just look at Selector Infected Wixoss, I think that is how a good blend of emotional and grimdark should be done in that it shows the characters in their struggles and suffering but doesn't feel like its torturing the cast for the sake of "shock-factor". I mean yes, the Selector system in general is cruel and back-stabbing, but it highlights how far will humans go to have their wishes granted and on the other side of the spectrum, how desperate the LRIGs are to become human again - it's not suffering for the sake of suffering or developing one single character but suffering to highlight a particular aspect that is eventually acted upon in the Spread Wixoss followup.
Additionally, Ruuko is not the only one that was being developed over the course of Wixoss: Hitoe managed to stand up for herself and Ruuko against Akira in Spread even if it didn't ended as well as she'd hoped, Iona/Yuki actually developed into a character with compassion going against her role as the "Girl of Darkness" and Yuzuki finally managed to have the courage to admit to her brother that she loves him after becoming an LRIG. Even on the antagonist side of the spectrum we have Akira falling deeper and deeper into psychosis while Ulith dances around her with illusions of worth in a deliciously cruel and manipulative way; and Ulith herself became the true personification of the darkness that the Selector game represented, being a sadist who finds pleasure in hearing the tears and screams of girls having their wishes revoked.
My problem with Re:zero is that it is hardly unique but the community is being so tryhard about putting it as a masterpiece as if they'll die if it doesn't become the next NGE; the fact that it caused a giant breeding problem of "karma-gathering" posts on r/anime in which anyone can just post [insert character here fanart][Re:zero] and almost certainly gets upvoted to front page "just because", is also a huge annoyance for anyone trying to search for legitimate topics or at least just trying to read through other things that doesn't have to do with the mob mentality. And again, there're much better authors out there like Gen Urobuchi and arguably, Okada Mari when it comes to delivering the themes that Re:zero is attempting to send. But, if you feel like giving it a shot then go ahead, though I will rather not continue this conversation in an endless loop of "Its good. No it's bad"
On another note, I believe that personal enjoyment should take priority over anything. I have no qualms in admitting that I absolutely enjoyed Ange Vierge and found it to be one of the best anime I've watched this year because of what it delivered and what I was expecting, which was a somewhat coherrent story in vein with Z/X Ignition with a bit of yuri attached, instead I got what is some actually decent characterization and likeable characters. Kabaneri was heavily panned by the "community" by and large last season, but I loved it from start to finish and especially towards the end because I found my own enjoyment in looking at it as another entry in the zombie sub-genre and seeing how well it delivered on the usual conventions and tropes instead of following the "community" and seeing it as the next SnK, (even when it is arguably better than the latter depending on individual tastes). I could appreciate the character development that Mumei went through, which was an interesting spin on the "regaining innocence" element that most zombie genre anime seems to follow in contrary to the west, even Biba's character made sense in that his fall was what allowed humanity to run from the Kabane and hide, so if anything, him destroying the capital city was actually rather poetic in a "self-fulfilling prophecy"-esque way and personally a lot more meaningful to me than just having it fall to the Kabane. Not to mention the glaringly obvious fact that he was intended to be the corruption of Ikoma's ideals from the start, much like how The Governor in S3/4 of TWD was a dark foreshadowing of what Rick/Carl could end up becoming if they don't regain humanity.
There is value in following the masses sometimes, but I don't think that the voices and opinions of the masses should drown out the individual preference; be different, find that genre of anime that you particularly like and just stick with it as a guideline, evaluate anime based on your own enjoyment instead trying to fit in with the crowd. That is what I follow nowadays and IMO, gives a much more fulfilling experience to enjoy this medium.
On a follow-up topic, yes there're issues in the industry and I would rather not have the generic pandering het/ecchi/harem anime being made every season, but these are issues that will not be fixed anytime soon nor do I think ever will be fixed. As much as I want these to disappear completely, I won't entirely fault someone for liking them but would rather just ignore them and let be.

Let's not forget why some anime get more popular and boosted more than their objective worth. It's all about the target audience. And since there had been stuff that are average/simply ok been praised a lot in the past too,(not just anime but movies, books etc) it's a fact that some people just want a mood booster.
They want to self insert into someone who is plain, but at the same time, for some magical reason, everything falls on their feet without trying much. They don't want to self insert, or better empathise into someone who has to try and fail a lot of times until they have imrpoved. It's the easy and the happy choice. A way of escapism as well.
In Re:Zero's case this trying and failing is being executed the wrong way.
So yeah, no wonder harems are popular. It's the epitome of not doing anything and having everything, more presicely girls/boys. fall on your feet.
Also, when something is this hyped, then it tends to follow the snowball effect. People start to like it and praise it because everyone else does.
I havent gotten to it yet, but when I do, I'd prefer to watch the 'perfected' eps
I personally would want to be able to watch both versions and compare them.
I wouldn't have enough time/focus to compare and notice the details :/

Seems like stream sites are restarting the uploads. TI checked two sites and the original episodes aren't there anymore, you just say 2 episodes, which i assumed are the remade first two episodes. (but I've already downloaded the 4 episodes when they first aired, so i guess i could still compare them when i find the time)

^ Eps 1 to 4 was remade and will air between Sept 1 to 29, after which Ep 5 will start and the anime will continue proper ^ _ ^
@MacySan, I agree with everything you just said, and also can't help but read that in Kirigiri's voice due to your avatar (great choice btw!)

Rina, assuming you've watched the 4 episodes and the two reaired ones, do you see an improvement?
^ I've not got around to comparing ep 2 but ep 1 has some noticably better sound quality along with some new scenes which frames the plot a bit more and gives it context.
and also can't help but read that in Kirigiri's voice due to your avatar (great choice btw!)
haha Kirigiri is awesome! She's easily in my top 5 of favorite characters hope she's alive ;/
^ Indeed, it'd be unfortunate for her to die like this...
Does anyone know how well New Game!'s anime is doing in Japan? I want to know if we'll get a sequel with the next volumes' stuff. :P

Forgot to reply to this, good to see that someone else see how great Nya and Nya x Eins is. Tbh, as much I wish she gets 2 eps like everyone, it makes sense that her "arc" is only one ep because she was always the most stable of the group.
Plus, all the other girls got curbstomped by their EXR counterparts, physically and emotionally, and required another ep to stop/placate them but Nya managed to defeat Eins in 1 ep, showing how vastly disproportionate her true power rank was to everyone else: likely at least a UR rank considering Eins had her power boosted by the Ouroboros Darkness.
My detailed thoughts on the ep is here if you are interested in reading.

I believe there're 3 forms of good; personal good, true good, and overhyped good.
Ergo Proxy was a case of "underrated"/underappreciated"/"hyped by a small few who treat it as a hidden masterpiece" - that turned out to be a disappointment to me.
I don't think super-detailed thoughts/reviews/opinions from someone who's taste you barely know are of much use, it will give you some insight, but not much for yourself. I am not attempting to disparage anyone here, btw.
The best thing you can do for anime recommendations is seek the opinions of those who share your same tastes, or those who's you know well enough to gauge the chances of you liking it. (does not only apply to anime ofc)
p.s. I have not seen the show you guys are discussing.
