It seems like I'm gone for 1 second and immediately this thread becomes a facility for concentrated pastry-related porn!

@ Anon I think the word you meant to say is unsocial. Anti-social is more like this guy:

My favorite color is green, I too do not have a girlfriend (nor have I ever), and I do just about the same stuff you guys do in your free time.

ALSO: Categorize me in the 30-40%. I get mocked quite a lot for my preference towards yuri manga and lesbian fiction in general. It's become more of an obsession or an affinity (probably due to my nature and my Autism Spectrum Disorder) than anything else. People can't seem to realize that not all yuri is porn! No one judges a girl for reading 50 Shades of Grey or other smutty het stories, but the moment I'm caught reading Octave or Girl Friends... PERV ALERT, PERV ALERT!

Surely you all must understand my troubles.

Looks like I've caught up. Anywho, anybody care to discuss their least favorite movie? We've had many discussions over our favorites, but I have not seen many that have divulged their unfavorable views on certain movies. My least favorite movie is probably Birdman. There's also this movie I saw called Tru Love that was terribly annoying and contrived. Teen Witch is a bad movie but it is laughably enjoyable and so is The Room.

Your move...

@Anon I'm sorry for the late reply to your post... again..
So we are more alike than I've thought^^... maybe we can be best friends. I'm very similar when it comes to feeling everything and seeking the pleasure out of it. Though not to such an extent, you are a pro. xD

I think it's only logical to be more sensitive when it's all peaceful and quiet around you. Usually all the hustle and bustle is so distracting that I can't synchronize myself with the environment.

Movies don't work for me like that, probably it has to be a very touching one.
The last time when I went into such a trans-state and then stayed happy for a week was during spring. I was passing under a blossoming tree and then it was as if the time had stopped and I had been taken somewhere else - it was just me, the scent and colors of the tree, and some birds chirping... when I came back to myself I felt goosebumps everywhere. And I was extremely happy!^^(hah, we are equally weird xD)

Thanks for the cake! It looks better^^

You mentioned birdman one time, and I remember saying smth like :

I don't like Iñárritu's works either. It seems like his movies are "oscar-winner" movie, and that they're made only for that purpose. I wouldn't call them bad all the same; I just find them boring and pretentious too.

My least favorite movies ? hmm

The Twilight movies
The Human centipede
Catwoman
Dragonball Evolution
And as surprising as it sounds, La vie d'adèle (known abroad as Blue Is the Warmest Colour). Seems like everyone is fond of this movie, but for some reason I couldn't overcome even the first hour. I tried to watch several times, but I just keep hating it no matter how hard I try lol. (like I hate everything from this film-maker.).

Funny, I avoided the film due to the negative press relating to the reception from the LGBTQ community and the length of the movie. Critics I tend to agree with said it was drawn-out and douchey. With your input, I now feel justified in not wanting to watch the film. The press relating to those involved is a nightmare as well. While I tend to shy away from feminists and social justice warriors, it seems like everybody (director included) was really unpleasant and vitriolic regarding the whole ordeal. What sort of good could come out of such a toxic set of circumstances? Regardless, whether or not there was some sort of "anti-feminist" agenda or work-code violations, a movie should still be judged on its merits, as little there might appear to be. Still not seeing it, though.

I know right! That is so ridiculous that the creators of the movie think it's worth that much. I can buy Gone with the Wind NEW on Blu-Ray for half of that. It's a crazy world we're living in.

Given it's Tommy Wiseau, I expect he's trading on the cult status of the film. Not to mention, there are guaranteed to be orders of magnitude more copies made of a classic like Gone With the Wind, so the per-unit profit can be reduced quite a bit and still bring in a healthy return. Blu-Rays of The Room would be produced on a much more narrow margin.

I would imagine other niche films without the benefit of a big distribution company behind them would have similar pricing.

I know that smarty pants :P. I just think it's a bit strange how society has come to determine value. In a practical world, movies like that would be cheap and others of higher quality would cost more. That's all.

I just said that it wasn't about value of the film as an artistic product, iffy as that concept is in the case of The Room, but about the cost of manufacturing, promoting, and shipping the physical Blu-Ray units. The fact that Gone With the Wind or Casablanca is much cheaper is a sign of its success, in that they can be carried by a bigger distribution company with stronger supply chains, and still move a lot more units than Tommy Wiseau trying to do the same out of his basement with a movie with niche appeal at best.

tl;dr Cost != value

Anywho, anybody care to discuss their least favorite movie?

Tbh the only film that I really disliked watching was "Singin' in the Rain" which I was forced to watch for a project...mother of ra that film was so cringey to watch. That aside, I am not impressed by the local "films" here, it's so tasteless and subpar.

feminists and social justice warriors

Tbh these are only as bad as ppl make them to be, and the fact that the whole thing only started gaining traction on the internet after the whole GGate incident kinda shows that ppl are just rearing their cattle-like minds towards the next "Hate of the Month".

I've spent nearly 2 years on Tumblr now and I've never once encountered any of the types of ppl that the internet has their panties in a bunch about, it's all about what you're seeking out and what you're following, and that applies to almost everywhere on the internet. Same goes for Twitter, Reddit, FaceBook and YT, if you don't search for it chances are you won't even hear about it - which is sad when you realize these ppl trying to make the next "Social Justice Warriors/Fems busted" hit, are wasting their lives purposely searching for something to criticize. But, it's the internet, and some ppl need something to validate their likely meaningless life and so they turn to trying to please "the masses", but in reality they're just shutting themselves inside a bubble.

Tbh I've less respect for those "ethics/activist warriors" than I have for the Fems and JWs. Boycotting a movie because it has a female lead and thus must be "feminist agenda", really? And not to mention the oh so bloody common trend nowadays of blaming every change in import from Japan to the West as "censorship caused by the feminists/JWs", which in reality, "censorship" has been around for decades and I doubt it's due to the aforementioned. And for Japan where their entire culture emphasizes on not starting trouble or stirring controversy whenever possible, the whole R18 game being sold on Amazon incident likely left a note in their minds that the West are uptight about these kinds of things, and that was years ago.

Also, the term "Social Justice Warriors" has lost it's original meaning, nowadays it has degraded into an insult used by the internet rightwingers to ridicule those that are more progressive than them; it's pathetic when you realize that part of the world would rather go back to the ages of discrimination and proscecution than striving for a equal world for all. But then again, if even the non-white/LGBT are treated as humans, who else would there be to validate the lives of the ppl that are on the lowest of the scale? It seems like humanity has a tendancy of wanting to see others as sub-humans/trash to make themselves feel superior, even those that are already trash in their behavior.

Sorry for the long post, it just needed to get this off my mind for a bit > o >

Apparently Tumblr blocks stuff tagged lesbian as sexual explicit even though, say, heterosexual isn't, as though any romantic affiliation between two girls is inherently overtly sexual, as a friend on Twitter pointed out.

Signs is the worst movie I've ever seen. I like shlocky sci-fi films, a lot, but it just failed on every possible level... story, direction, dialogue, special effects, music... even the credits were bad.

@Utoptia: I didn't like Blue Is The Warmest Color that much either. It felt like a very average yuri manga, cliches and all, made into a live action film for some reason (I later learned that it had been a comic book, which is supposed to be much better than the movie.)

Some other "arty" films that I just couldn't get with: Another Earth, Melancholia, Alphaville, Ohayou.

@muteKi The suppression thing might be plausible, the page that shows posts under a certain tag only loads partially when you're not logged in; kinda nuisance sometimes when I want to search tags without the data being logged for recommendations.

And I guess the site's layout is a little bit trippy at some areas.
