Haha, I was just wondering myself as I noticed it on a new release of Takemiya Jin.

Baiting-yuri-thirsty-fan tag so that they can read the series with emotional preparation for some yaoi but dont expect the yaoi to happen at all. But then yaoi happened.

Which one? So far, this is what we've got here:

• The Takemiya Jin one, which has a BL short story but it isn't porn, therefore it's not yaoi.
• A manga by GAN that has the exact same title as the KyoAni anime about teenage guys with a water fetish.
• An Evangelion dj where Kaworu tries to do yaoi but fails. Hence, not quite yaoi.
• Two Code Geass doujins where two gender-bent male characters do yuri porn. Thus, not exactly yaoi.
• And an author whose style makes girls look like transvestites.

For a tag so seldomly used it is quite diverse, isn't it?

Dynasty doesn't recognize shoujo-ai (GL) as different from yuri therefore BL still be yaoi even though it doesn't have the porn.

I personally took it as : yes, there is a yaoi short but the main story isn't yaoi

I wasn't bothered by yaoi short as well. Just 2-3 pages after already great yuri and it was pretty funny. It also looked as if it was written as yuri, but with male characters instead. No sexual acts did help quite a bit too though. Bottom line. I don't get why people are so upset about it.

i am amazed that this one tag has produced so much chatter. i don't want to say it's got folks bent out of shape, but umm..... amazing.

To me it is just next example of unclear tagging practices by Dynasty. The meaning of tag isn't clear from its name and there is no description of it, hence people are confused what it exactly mean and when it should be used.

I wasn't upset about this though. Just thought it wasn't as accurate as it should be. Maybe some yaoi or yaoi side couple would be a better tag lol

I don't get why people start thinking too much about joke tags. These tags are are here for fun, of course they won't be accurate. This isn't a reason to make another tag each time there is ambiguity...

It still wouldn't be yaoi though. It'd be more like yaoi crush or something or maybe subtext though it's a bit more blatant than subtext.

Technically ガールズラブ Girls Love is a subset of 百合 Yuri, specifically girls love is "clean" (SFW) yuri; that is, yuri involving only romantic relationships, without explicitly sexual content (basically it’s the female equivalent for 少年愛 Shounen Ai). Whereas yuri is the superset of everything lesbian in general. I don't know of any term that acts as the gay equivalent of Yuri (i.e. everything gay in general) or as the lesbian equivalent of やおい Yaoi (i.e. lesbian porn)*.
In other words, the technical definitions of the words are not exactly the same as their tag use in Dynasty. Which is OK, I'm not complaining or anything.

And 少女愛 Shoujo Ai is a different beast entirely.

* I'm leaving the difference between Yaoi and Bara for another day.
