Yeah, I’ve had days like that.
Pretty good, reminds me of the song "You Can never Know" by Immortal Technique

Nanoka should be designated as a national treasure.

You know, this is a random and irrelevant question, but what is Megu returning when they’re about to leave? The only thing I see her holding is a bag with the charm in it, and I’d assume the bag is hers unless it’s not for some reason. Anyway, it seems like it’s hinting at something supernatural with the way the wind is blowing when Nanoka looks back at the grave. I feel like I’ve seen that kinda thing in other manga when ghosts of their loved ones show up, though I’m not sure if that’s actually common. This clearly isn’t a ghost anyway, but yeah. And since she gave her the charm right before she went to the hospital, she could’ve said her goodbyes in person… I suppose that’s easier to say through a letter though and she wasn’t 100% sure she would die.

At any rate, this was a great story and so was the prequel. I’ve been liking all of Ume Umehara’s stuff, so I’m hoping she gets the chance to write a full story soon.

The bucket used to splash water over the grave. Idk the exact significance, but it's a common thing I've seen in media. Japan has a great reverence of the dead, so keeping the graves clean is a thing that may be related to the splashing.

judging from page 2, it seems to be the bucket, which I think may be used to clean the grave

Haruko may have decided to not say her goodbyes in person, because she did not want to drop something this heavy on Megu right before her exams, since she wanted Megu to live a good life (probably meaning to also do good in school), as can be seen from her letter. And putting your feelings/goodbyes into a letter may be easier, of course

I interpreted the gust of wind as a sort of "blessing" by Haruko towards Nanoka, like she's saying she accepts Nanoka as Megu's partner and leaves her in her care!

Oh, I see, that makes sense. I completely missed the bucket somehow. I don’t think I’ve seen that before or maybe I just missed the bucket last time too. That seems like a nice tradition and all to have. Thanks!

That makes sense too for sure! I can definitely see why she would do that to make it easier to say things and to avoid burdening her too much right before that. I guess it worked out in the end since it seems she ended up living a good life with Nanoka and I assume she did good on the exams and all too. I like that interpretation of that as a blessing, and I’m sure she’d be happy about it all. Thanks!
