After thinking it over and reading more of the discussion I must say I agree now with tagging it as rape, because of the clear lack of any form of reciprocation at the end and the fact that the tag description is non-exhaustive.

When was this published? Nmi usually draws something much more light hearted.

This was published in the Cheating & NTR Yuri Anthology on the 16th of August, 2025

But either way, in which way this is dubious and not rape? xd

Dubious consent tag description reads:

Put simply, it is when consent between all parties is not obvious or clear.

A common situation is when a character may not expressly say "no" but is notably uncomfortable/unwilling, which the other party may notice and proceed anyway.

What does NOT apply is when a character actually refuses, either physically and/or by emphatically saying "no", but they eventually engage in the act anyway due to further coercion in the scene. That is rape.

Since she never explicitly says "no" and even tells her "do as you like", and she doesn't physically resist, I think it falls under this tag rather than rape.

Miya would clearly have refused if she were not being coerced by blackmail. Phrases like "do as you like" are frequently employed by victims of uneven power dynamics because their abuser does not allow them to say "no", but they want it to be known (to themselves if no one else) that they never said "yes". This manga clearly and unambiguous depicts Miya as the victim of two instances of rape on the page, and an unknown number of implied rape incidents off the page. There is no consent here, dubious or otherwise.

This. It's rape and should be tagged accordingly. The whole thing is about hurting someone with a dedicated partner for not being single. It's genuinely vile.

I'm not arguing whether it's rape or not by dictionary definition. I'm arguing which of the tags applies according to this website's tag definitions.

  • Is a cheaper girls-only actually a thing? At first I thought about priced-on prophylactics, but given then vending machines that seems dubious, and I'd guess females tend to make more of a mess, so is this some security because men mean trouble?

From what I know, some love hotels have joshi kai (girls' party) plans, which are rooms that are basically meant for women to hang out or have dinner in with privacy (as opposed to a public restaurant, etc.), functionally being similar to regular hotel rooms (you can also stay overnight), but apparently fancier-looking and cheaper. These rooms are (probably) not made to have sex in, and I'm guessing they probably have different "amenities" compared to regular love hotel rooms, instead having stuff like karaoke boxes.

  • Are dryers and (unhaunted) imoni something you'd usually find in a love hotel?

The imoni is something that's also quite the mystery to me (and apparently lots of other readers as well). It's not something usual to love hotels and it's only typical of the Tohoku region (the northeast part of Japan), but this story is set in Tokyo, which does not lie in this region. So it seems to be an original joke by the author.

One possible theory I have about it is that it's a reference to one of Yatosaki Haru's onshots, Tsukutte Agetai! Yomotsu Gohan (which was also included in volume 1). This oneshot deals with a certain theme, where if you eat the food of the dead, you will be unable to return to the living world. In this chapter, the imoni acts as the food of the dead, which could be a sort of symbolisation of the contract. They're presented with the temptation of imoni (the contract) multiple times throughout the chapter, which would make them unable to return to the living world if they eat it (fall to hell), but instead they leave the hotel without trying it once (they choose against the contract and continue on with their lives).

But maybe I'm off the mark.

At first I wanted to scold the TL for going with Forêt Noire over Black Forest or even Schwarzwald/Schwarzwälder (still should be hyphenated, though) but after seeing the actual ingredients: the fewer connections that abomination has to my home, the better.

It's called forêt-noire in Japanese (fore nowaaru) and the multiple references to French cuisine in this manga didn't make me question the name at all. I have no idea how I even managed to miss it being German, even though I did look it up. I'll just keep it as forêt-noire, but thanks for pointing it out at least!

That chicken ham that they had in the ramen intrigued me but checking my local supermarket's online store I can't see anything resembling it which is a shame.

Chicken ham seems to be pretty unique to Japan (though it may still be found in other countries), but apparently it's not that difficult to make by yourself! I haven't tried it myself, but there are some recipes online.

I love that carrot cake is apparently newish in Japan? It's one of the best cakes and I'm glad the Japanese have learned it exists and is utterly delicious.

As fun as the last page funfact is, it's also wrong - speculoos is an alternate spelling of speculaas, but it's the exact same cookie!

Not the first time i see someone claim that though, I wonder where it originates from?

EDIT: I missed that there was another page of comments and that the uploader addressed this, whoops.

I checked and there actually is a difference in the spices used, but the name actually being different was created through marketing by Lotus Bakeries
rather than an organic historic development. Speculoos don't contain most of the spices usually in speculaas (just cinnamon) and add in caramelized sugar, but prior to Lotus rebranding then they were simply sold as speculaas. According to that link, VRT (Belgian Flemish public broadcaster) and the Belgian government's Flemish language advisory board both consider speculoos a brand name. Obviously, they aren't the arbiters of language use, but their insistence confirms speculoos didn't arise organically.

tl;dr speculoos do have fewer spices, but the name is marketing and not related to whether Belgium had historical access to the spice market

Thanks for this as well!

I was a little excited to see something I'm familiar with mentioned in this chapter so I wanted to add in a little note, but since I didn't actually know Belgian speculaas was different I had to look up some stuff and ended up making some mistakes. I did another revision and it should be accurate now!

I used to think "speculoos" was actually a sort of brand name (and alternative spelling) of the manufacturer Lotus, so I decided to look it up and it seems that they're alternate spellings, but also different cookies depending on the region. The "speculaas" from the Netherlands is different from the "speculaas" in Belgium, and apparently some manufacturers deliberately call their product "speculoos" to avoid this misunderstanding (https://www.vlaanderen.be/team-taaladvies/taaladviezen/speculaas-speculoos). Speculoos cookies are made of sugar candy syrup or caramelised sugar and may contain cinnamon. From my own experience (in the Netherlands) speculoos also tastes different from speculaas.

The thingy about the origin of "speculoos" is also still speculative (https://royale.nl/nl/actueel/item/17-speculaas-vs-speculoos).

I should've researched it a little more and do realise I made some mistakes, so I fixed the note to make it more complete. Thanks for pointing it out though!

fauce posted:

I've just realized that this is technically a cooking manga. Has anyone tried the ch. 7 peach ice cream recipe? It sounds kinda good.

I've made ice cream in a ziplock bag before, but that recipe seems off, since it doesn't seem to involve any ice or freezing temps. I might be missing something with how it's supposed to work, though, since the multiple transfer and mix steps also seem unnecessary.

You're right, my bad. I've never tried making it myself, but I accidently mistranslated it as "fridge" instead of "freezer", so that explains the lack of freezing temperatures. Should be fixed now!

This was a wonderful chapter to read!

Until now, Runa had been a background character who kind of seemed like a horrible ex who completely disregarded Mai's feelings, but now that we've come to know her, we see that there's much more to her! I really like how Yatosaki Haru handled Runa's aro-ace-ness. Both Mai and Lily fully accepted her and didn't doubt her feelings at all. Though it seemed like Lily was going the route of "Before I met Mai-chan, I'd never loved anyone, so maybe you just need to find the right one!", she never doubted what Runa said, and instead assured her that everything is alright. And precisely because Lily's had similar feelings to those of Runa—though you could argue that these feelings come from different places—it looks like these two might just become very good friends!

I like the contrast between ch9, where Miyagi was all like "I have to make her not want to come over anymore", and this chapter, where she can't seem to let her go when Sendai actually presents her with the possibility that she'd never come over anymore.

...Oh my god. I'm glad to see they seem to be happy with each other, at the very least.

It's a scenario that evokes a lot of the bitter parting into adulthood you see in Class S — but this one has a sickly sweet conclusion that's much more modern menhera.

If you want to view AriSaku as a bridge across time, a love letter to Class S respectfully carrying it into the modern age, the rotten flower isn't something ugly but a transformation of its beauty.

You very nicely describe how Igarashi Jun creates a feeling of modernity within this story. I'm kind of getting the feeling that Kasumi and Haruyo have opened the box that is Class S, and are currently on the way to experience its painful history, while they themselves come to understand what it means for them. I have no idea whether we'll come to see an anthology route like you said, or whether the story will focus on the relationship between the heroines and Sayori and Mizuki, but that only makes me more excited for what's to come. Igarashi Jun is a sadist, and I seem to be a masochist.

Shouldn’t this have the “Bisexual” tag? The first page of the story literally has the succubus girl next to a man she presumably sexually drained.

I don't think there is enough depiction of it to warrant the tag, and there is no hint of any bisexuality in following chapters as well.

Yessss this series is peak!

Agreed! I’m so glad this cute series is now on Dynasty. Volume 1 seemed to end at chapter 6, so I wonder if there are more volumes. :)

Like the person above me said, there are currently 3 volume releases that span chapters 1 to 15. New chapters are released in parts and are updated every 2 to 3 weeks. Currently there are 18 chapters released in 2 parts, with the exception of chapter 18, which has 3 parts.

I'll translate full chapters until it's caught up, after which I plan to do so in parts, just like the releases.

I really like these two characters so far.

Can I dare to hope this manga gets a long run time?

This author seems little interested in padding out the story with cliched melodrama, so it isn't likely to be a long manga.

I appreciate how the story doesn't get dragged out by having Yukari do "stupid stuff" that will only hinder their relationship because of her social awkwardness. And since the story doesn't seem to be going the comedic route, I doubt she'll be doing any "stupid stuff" in future chapters. Although I'd love to see this have a long run time, if it continues at this pace I'd be very happy as well. Maybe we'll get to see them be more lovey-dovey this way.

I've heard of cases like that and sadly they definitely do happen. I was simply a little surprised by the assertiveness of some of the students in this story.

Well, it'd be a boring story if the kids just silently pined. :)

Stories don't have to be representative, just somewhat plausible (and not always that, even.)

I do agree though! Student-teacher relationships can make for some really exciting stories, especially when the student is the instigator.

It kind of feels like it's going all over the place, but I don't dislike it so far. The exploration of different kinds of love for different kinds of people is a concept I really like, and the pressure of love all around you that Kuritani experiences is an all too real emotion.

Just wondering though, is it actually a (common) thing in Japan (or other places?) where students will fall in love with a teacher and actually go as far as confessing or trying to "compete" with others? Teacher crushes definitely seem like a common and fairly normal thing for teenagers (both in real life and fiction), but this seems a bit too extreme.

I'm glad Kasumi's misunderstanding(?) got resolved. The (current) relationship between Ono and Asai, however... I kind of hope the box cutter was simply part of a dark past between the two, which they've now resolved into a healthy relationship, but seeing the author's comments and the overall tone of the story, I don't think it's all sunshine and rainbows... The ominous undertones during this chapter aren't helping as well (especially the way the last panel is portrayed); I'm just hoping Kasumi and Haruyo don't have to suffer (too much).

I keep thinking we’re going to keep finding out “Oh, yeah, there’s one more person involved” until we come to a serial killer.

Until being proven otherwise, I maintain the whole letter thing is an elaborate scheme by an ancient secret sisterhood of class S seeking to populate the earth with yuri

Maybe even Yamabe's grandma is in on it.

Seeing a new chapter uploaded with these additional tags immediately made me assume the worst, especially with the way last chapter ended... Though I'm glad "nothing" happened to Kasumi, I'd never expected this development, but I can't say I dislike it. In fact, it's made me even more excited for what's coming.

It's nice to see the translation is now caught up (or is it, since we've now got to wait longer between chapters...). I'd really like to thank you, noighd, for the amazing scanlation work, and for going the extra mile with the credit pages and comments; your vast understanding of the Japanese language and the topics discussed in this story--from Class S to flowers--made me able to appreciate this manga much more, as I'd never heard of Class S prior to this. This manga has quickly become one of my favourites and I'd never have found it without your work. I've re-read previous chapters multiple times now, and each time this story never fails make me re-experience the emotions I felt on my first read. Igarashi Jun does such a good job at portraying the intimacy between Kasumi and Haruyo, and the strong negative emotions Kasumi experiences, like when she got stood up by Haruyo.

Really looking forward to the upcoming chapters and the direction the story's taking. Thanks again for the scanlation work!
