Translation is an art as well, anyone using Dynasty should know this. The effort that goes into human translation is valuable and skilled work, it's part of why our community translators are amazing people. It's something also where our translators should have opportunities for official translation work as well.

You mention examples of bad actor translators, well there's also official translators that love their work and respect what they work on. I've seen creatives that work with translators to bring their creations to new audiences, and they greatly respect and appreciate those translators. Those people shouldn't have have their jobs at risk because of objectively evil ai companies ruining everything, and it's not human translators that are ruining everything it's ai and the fascist CEOs running ai companies. Siding with ai and wanting to replace humans with it is siding with theft, environmental damage, the destruction of art, and a long list of other things including surveillance, loss of human rights, and so on.

Also Dynasty is mentioned because it's a Queer centric community, and I strongly believe ai is anti Queer. Which is exactly why so many bigots on social media are attracted to ai.

You can't pretend to care about art and especially to be neutral while siding with actual fascists. Even your "I just want to enjoy my hobby" argument is the exact same crap used by people who complain about any sort of representation in games.

Also AI (especially LLM) translation is bad in quality. A group translating Wikipedia articles with LLM has resulted in incorrect, fabricated, replaced, and unrelated sources being added to the translation result.

No one who actually knows anything about the proccess of translation and localization could say MTL is better. If you're ignorant and think literal translation is better than actually conveying the meaning of text, maybe.

i agree with official translators often being really, REALLY bad. but the answer to that is not, and will never be, AI or MTL. instead, why don't you learn the language? then you can appreciate it fully, without any of the "shit they're adding to it". food for thought :)
