I've always had the headcanon that Mai was INITIALLY being 100% serious in her confessions, but every time, at the last minute, she'd think "Wait, this is gonna be REALLY funny" and sabotage her own confession. ^Yes, the anime was announced March of 2025 and started streaming at start of this month, July 2026. There are currently 3 episodes out and it will continue airing weekly, probably until it hits the usual about 12 episode season.

Surprised to see nobody mention that the touhou games do in fact have plot many being pretty interesting. I don't even care about debunking that guy touhou games have neat story especially the more recent ones

Just a reminder for those who may not know, this drawing comes from a collection of character design practice sketches created before the show was produced. The images were uploaded in 2014 but were likely drawn earlier, before the 2013 OVA. Some of the girls resemble the characters from the show because Yoshinari reused and refined elements from his earlier practice designs. Hence, the drawings have no relation to the series itself.

Unfortunately we live in a world where not even the main series was allowed to get a complete anime so there's probably no way the Light Novel would get an adaption. As nice as it would be to see both.
