I love works that can be both taken at face value or interpreted in many different ways, including ways that weren't originally intended by the author.

At example my first impression was that the ghosts were a metaphor for intrusive thoughts (the more attention you give them, the more they appear) and Kagari was a manifestation of the protagonist's OCD.

I had a similar thought! Kagari's love is "scary" because accepting the ghosts (intrusive thoughts) around her is scary. Acknowledging that her thoughts can't hurt her is momentous task, but since Kagari is the only one who can "touch" her (and that touch doesn't hurt Ageha) there comes her relief.

Eventually, I think both the ghosts and Kagari will stay full time when she's truly able to let her thoughts pass / not be bothered anymore. Kagari knows Ageha's thoughts aren't her and don't make her a bad person. This and the queer allegory made the oneshot almost comforting, I just love Yuri so muchhh :')

Indirectly, yes, though I don't think Kagari is doing it intentionally. The running theme in J-horror is that repeatedly making contact with the supernatural draws you deeper into its world and makes the next contact easier.

Or, and hear me out: it really is just the yuri that's cleansing the ghosts, and they're showing up more and more often as word spreads of the yuri couple who kiss whenever the human girl sees a scary ghost. I choose to believe half these ghosts are actively playing up the horror just to make sure they get enough yuri to pass on.

What are the chances that those creepy things are summoned by Kagari hersel so she can play the protector? They became worse the day after Ageha told Kagari she was scary. The kissing is probably not required either.

Probably not directly summoned? With this type of thing, the act of engaging with Kagari would make her more aligned with spirits. Also spirits may be drawn to Kagari herself.

I'm sure Kagari lets things progress further than necessary. She always gets there exactly when Ageha can't deal with the situation by herself, which wouldn't be possible if you weren't close by. I also get the sense she likes other people judging Ageha and isolating her since it lets her be the kindest person in Ageha's life.

I guess we'll never know her full motivations though. The pain of the one shot.
