On other news, volume 8 broke in the top 30 of the weekly Oricon ranking, with 45,134 copies sold. Nothing to scoff at for a yuri series.

And that "sleepover cooking" cover gag was uguuuuh~ >.<

And there's gonna be a second Yagakimi anthology? Yes, please!

Japanese chose their top 100 anime in 2019. From November 1st to December 6th, Japanese fans had voted for their best 100 anime titles in 2019 (80 TV series and 20 Movies).

Bloom Into You came second over all.

Considering how the first one obliterate everything, it's a victory in itself. Apparently someone Reddit said that if Yagate ranked high in this top, the chance of having a S2 will be higher. Althought take in consideration that Touko's VAis studying aboard for the momentso either they recast someone else or wait for her to come back.

TBH, I'm leaning towards the 2nd option. Is there any knowledge how long the abroad studies would last, tho?

(I've read this comment over half an hour ago, but only now I found the time to reply.)
So, when I went to the link, I was positively surprised. I basically entered a celebratory mood, as if I was watching a sports match with those I'm rooting for winning, lol, and even gently nagging my brother, who, despite having watched YagaKimi, was thoroughly confused why was I celebrating so hard lol.

Yeah, I'm praying for a second season. Then, unlike most series which come from a manga, it'll be a complete story.
Most series I watch based on a manga, I never see it completed.

Thanks.

If I can wait till 2021 to read my book adaptation of Neu Katz's AFOW to my dad, then surely I can wait for season 2 of YagaKimi till 2021 at the earliest

They could simply do the voice acting abroad, too. Extremely common practice in the video game industry at least. Recording studios are everywhere and the Internet exists to transfer data.

It's not always quite so easy. Some companies are very protective of their material and would rather not transfer it to new partners or studios they don't usually work with half a globe away. Much of that is paranoia, and it's a rather rare phenomenon, but leaks are an unfortunate fact of the entertainment industry.

That normally only applies to really, really high profile stuff, though. The place where I work was involved in the German dubbed version of the latest Game of Thrones seasons, and due to previous leaks by third parties they were only given poor materials to work with, which does not make it easier for the voice actors (and in our case, also the script writers).

Another potential issue is that different studios get different results, as every setup is slightly different - be it the microphone, software or just the layout of the recording room. Additionally, from what I remember, it's not uncommon for anime dubs (yes, the Japanese version is technically a dub as well) to be recorded with multiple VAs in the room at the same time.

I'd advocate waiting until she has time to come to Japan for it rather than doing it abroad. If the producers make it worth her time, she should be able to readily squeeze the entire recording into one semester break.

Mind you, I probably won't peruse the Japanese dub either way, and just wait for the English dub release, especially if Sentai end up releasing it with a mere two week delay yet again. Still, I think it'd be better for the Japanese version if they take their time with the recording.

The volume 8 extras were translated and put on MD a few days ago:

I'm not sure beyond that, unfortunately.

Google translate says it's rather a collection of Nakatani's one-shots that also features a new Yagakimi story.

They got one bit of info wrong there and just tweeted to make a correction: https://twitter.com/yagakimi/status/1204940481588682752?s=20

That link is to Nakatani's short stories collection, which will compile all her oneshots published with Dengeki (Eclair + Sayonara Oruta) plus some other stuff we don't know yet. The new YagaKimi short won't be included in it, but in the 2nd official anthology. There's no release date for that yet, but I'm guessing it'll be released together with Sayaka LN3.

If anyone interested, Nakatani's artbook will be released on the same date as her short stories collection and will have plenty of YagaKimi illustrations.
