I base what I say on the characters description, the header and the gallery where we almost only see the big sis and things like that :

http://i1.wp.com/www.idoloncomic.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/deanna-and-cas-big.jpg

The header :
http://www.idoloncomic.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/cropped-website-banner-2.jpg

The additional art is pretty focused on big sis/main girl

I still can't make any judgements about it. That's still too few stuff (for me, anyways); we have only 35 pages of comic (of which sis only appears in, what, 4, 5?) and a few side art (exactly one of which, as you pointed, seems to hint at MC x sis -- plus header).
That being said, as long as it's done well, I don't mind love triangs (or other polygons)

Yeah, that was pretty unexpected with the build up and all.

I can't read fallen or dumbing of age on my phone. Too many ads and sidebars and whatnot. Fallem doesn't even have the best layout for reading on a pc.

Loving rain, shutin vampire princess, the night belongs to us and Idolon however.

At the start of vampire princess, the captain, is she the princess or the knight ?

I went to the library to watch some anime and instead spent nearly 3 hours reading Dumbing of Age. xD

Oh right, there's Sinfest that I suppose everyone knows.

One of the two main characters (Monique) turned lesbian and dates a demon-girl.

All in all, Sinfest, after 15 years, turned into an ultra-feminist webcomic.

Shame that now is utter trash.

I used ot like it.

To each their own. You can say you don't like it anymore, but not that it's trash.

I still kinda like it. The art has improved a lot over the years. Most of the characters are interesting.

Monique and her girlfriend are cute.

Fuchsia and Criminy are cute.

Though I don't like much what the author is doing to Slick. He used to be a nice guy, though a pervert, with a thing for Monique.

Now, he's sinking into hell and seem unable to redeem himself, just because he's male.

Seriously, the author of Sinfest did a strip per day for around 15 years ?! The guy is crazy

He must have missed a few days, but basically, yeah, he made a strip per day for 15 years.

The only one I know that's been longer (1995!) and as regular is Kevin & Kell. A strip per day for 20 years. But it's pure slice-of-life of a furry family and has almost no romance. Though there's a lesbian couple (a rhino and a horse).

The art is good but the plots doesn't make any sense now, characterizations are murdered just because (Monique being a lesbian comes absolutely from nowhere), every attempt of Tats to make a feminist statement is so clumsy and poorly thought that loses any meaning, men's suffering is played for laughs and the sisterhood is such mary sues that there's no tension whatsoever on the strips.

Not read it so is there something particularly off about her being a lesbian? Because 'comes from nowhere' sounds like an odd critique.

If it's anything like what happened with Monica in Wapsi Square, "comes from nowhere" basically means "changed a significant part of their life/personality with little to no buildup or foreshadowing". Which is absolutely a valid critique. Now I don't know Monique, but in the case of Monica (what's with girls named "Moni" suddenly turning gay?) you had a character with absolutely no indication of being into girls that way, and in fact seemed highly focused on dudes and spent most of the series in a happy relationship with one, then suddenly becoming 100% lesbian and saying "welp, I'd been fooling myself all along".

Good writing requires at least some sort of groundwork.

That is exactly what happened.

When the strip started Nique was a classic example of "femme fatale", using her femenine charm to play and dominate men. Out of 11 years she only showed interest on women in TWO ocassions and both times were she just trolling.

In fact, the sexual tension (and posterior relationship) between her and Slick was one of the main plots of the strip.

Then all of the sudden Monique "sees the light", becomes embarrassed of her past behavior, becomes a sisterhood mouth piece and suddenly develops interest on women.

Oh right, put like that makes sense. The way I read it at first made it seem like a later addition to the character rather than a change to it.

I wouldn't call Sinfest COMPLETE trash....but yeah, it's pretty bad. It's a shame that as soon as the art gets really good, with visually appealing color schemes...the plot totally veers off road.

I found Balderdash on the same site as Dumbing of Age, the art is pretty and colourful and the artist says there will be yuri in it - its kinda new.

The author turned feminist along the road (maybe something happened?) and his comic which was mainly about poking fun at various religions and some flirty innuendo, turned into "war on patriarchy".

Monique becoming lesbian was part of that change of focus. It makes sense, because she realizes that all this time, she's been an object and even Slick only sees her as potential sexual partner, not as a person.

Monica turning into a lesbian didn't make sense in Wapsisquare probably because the focus of the story didn't change. The character changed for no good reason.

Obviously, Tatsuya Ishida hates the way women are treated in today's society. From a fun oriented comic, it turned into a very political statement.

The only honest male character is Criminy, a kind bookworm. All of the orthers are slave to their desires.

I can understand where he comes from though, because his criticism of the male-oriented society, catering to their desires in order to make money, often hits home, even though it's not as grim as he makes it to be.

If the guy wants to make a political statement, well, that's his choice. The problem is Sinfest's format and foundations don't offer a solid platform for those statements.

Writing is all over the place and in what I want to think is Tats' eagerness to represent feminism, it only ends with shallow plots suffering a lot of "telling not showing", horrible pacing, narrative bending and being retconned by the statements instead of the statement being organically included within the narrative.

He tries to make the sisterhood relatable and the new heroes of the strip but they never face any obstacle and in fact, plenty of plots have been caused by them.

I liked sinfest at first for the light hearted giggles, but when it turn all "let's make a statement", it did drop drastically in quality. And i loved Monique's old hairstyle so much I almost ragequit it when she cut her hair XD Tried to keep going for a while, but it soon become too annoying to read.

As other said, the author wanting to make some political statement isn't really an issue. But sinfest wasn't really the good medium for that, because a great deal of its humor was based on just that : guys love porn, girls plays out their sexyness, the devil makes money on it while god plays pupets. The comic made a sudden U-turn out of the blue.

In my opinion, it might have been better if the author simply put an end to sinfest and started a new comic with that focus. But then again, I suppose he wanted to surf the popularity of sinfest to get his point accros...

Out of curiosity, when did Monique went gay ? Never get to that part and frankly, don't have much courage to go through the archives... ^^;
