CSX- My english was fine- maybe i used a few short cuts but it should of been obvious what i was refering to and in what manner each time- Im thinking whats lacking is your reading comprehension. Secondly whats the point bringing up the english in a post on the internet? You have no idea what nationality someone is- and it dosnt adress ANY of the points of a post.

So i mistakenly said backetball club- did that change the point I was making? You managed to spell both her name wrong and the word 'cue' as que - should that be discussed instead of what you were saying?

As for your point of hating the lots of confessions thing- you DIDNT explain it at all in the spoiler except to say you hated it and it was to force the plot along- without saying or showing how at all. A character who is meant to be super popular WOULD get lots of confessions and letters.

The point about the confessions not being serious- and saying they were not laughing at her- are you serious?? We have seen in LOADS of yuri manga where girls confess without being realy serious. Ofcourse we dont mean joking! They are serious in terms of wanting to express their 'like' / admiration / crush - but not at ALL in terms of wanting a girlfriend - if she said yes lets go out - i can guarantee 90% of them would run a mile. We see this issue of fan girls not being serious in terms of wanting a real girlfriend in tons of yuri manga.

The senpai states 'some' girls seemed to be serious- (though she wasnt sure if they were) and she didnt know how to deal with them - making it clear she knew most were NOT serious confessions of love.

also -

Kitty_kit - Fujiwara's only reason to except the fake dating thing wasnt to get an omg-friend!- though If we except the story at face value that she dosnt have any, it would be a big deal to her- but because she said it will give her an excuse to easily turn down all the confessions she gets- maybe stop them all together if everyone at school thinks she is already in a relationship? So she would get something from pretending too.

I know her reason for excepting wasn't to get a friend, her reason was so that Miu wouldn't tattle on her. I was saying that I found it ridiculous that someone could so easily accept and bypass the idea that someone wanted to USE them and in such an emotion driven manner and the whole negative connotations of the situation and only take out of it that wow I made my first friend. That's like I went out payed for a female escort who stays with me for the evening and all of a sudden I think she's my friend. No that is not how things work and even if Fujiwara was so scared of being tattled on any SANE person would have MORE objections to being MANIPULATED.

My point is that the whole premise of this story leaves a bad taste in my mouth I wish the basis of their friendship wasn't manipulation.

Also side note: Grammar and spelling errors do make it hard to understand people's points and opinions, I'm not saying that to be mean to you or anyone else because I understand that for some people it is a second language. I'm just saying it because sometimes I have a hard time comprehending certain posts and I have excellent comprehension skills.

Also sorry if I've seemed harsh at all during this time it isn't my prerogative to be rude or mean to anyone >o<;;;

Thank you guys for your great work! Chapters seem to be huge and complicated to edit. So thank you very much :)

My english was fine

Not even by the wildest stretch of the imagination.

Secondly whats the point bringing up the english in a post on the internet?

I directly said why, because I could not understand the point you were making. It also means you miss the subtler points of what you're reading because you don't understand the language. Which you have kind of done is spades. You also come across as overly aggressive. Heaven forbid people point out the objective flaws in a series you like. Not everyone indiscriminately thinks that anything yuri is written well.

So i mistakenly said backetball club- did that change the point I was making?

Not in and of itself, but it shows you both don't pay attention to write and read. Even more so because you went back and edited what you said. So you had a chance to fix it.

As for your point of hating the lots of confessions thing
and it was to force the plot along

Um... You even wrote it. Forcing plot progression is a problem. This is why I say you missed points made due to your lack of English skills.

A character who is meant to be super popular WOULD get lots of confessions and letters.

Yes, and this is an example of bad story telling. As the same effect in terms of relationship development could be achieved without it if better writing was used.

This whole "paragraph" rapes the English language. But that's beside the point. You are basing everything you say on assumptions, not what the story is actually telling us.

We see this issue of fan girls not being serious in terms of wanting a real girlfriend in tons of yuri manga.

Yeah? Name some? Because more often than not we see them being entirely serious and presented as real love interests. As is done on the last pages of chapter two. The only time it's not portrayed as serious is when it's a nameless upperclassman who graduates and ends the relationship, thus being forced Aaaansgt fuel for the characters in the story, and ultimately leading them to get together.

The senpai states 'some' girls seemed to be serious- (though she wasnt sure if they were) and she didnt know how to deal with them - making it clear she knew most were NOT serious confessions of love.

See, here's where you being an ESL master becomes a problem. She never said that; She did say "sometimes girls who seem completely serious will come up and ask me to go out with them.". Here the "some" is the qualifier of the time the events happen, not the mental status of the girls. "Sometimes" is describing the times when girls come up to her to confess. And that equates the grand total sum, not a partial event. If she had said "some girls who come up to me and ask to go out seem completely serious." you would be right, but it's not.

Kind of missed Morinaga-sans "girlfriends style" works

Oh please god, don't compare the two. Save for the art the these two are nothing alike. Girlfriends is practically a work of art while this is a doddle at best.

The next chapter has not been published in Japan yet; Morinaga sensei did not put anything in Hirari 12. I hope it doesn't take too long also.

Thought I would point out a couple of things.

First: It is clear that Miu does consider herself to be Fujiwara's friend. Of course, she is also using her, a fact that is openly acknowledged between them. It's now also acknowledged that Fujiwara is using her.

Second: Miu never once said or implied, or apparently even thought, that she would tell anyone that Fujiwara broke the vase. She did, however, pick up on Fujiwara's desperation offer to "do anything."

Despite the arrangement between them, from the first we see both of these people trying to protect and help each other. They are not bad people. Oh, I guess that was three things.

Well duh. That's obviously the intent, but that does not mean the story wrote it correctly.

Second: Miu never once said or implied, or apparently even thought, that she would tell anyone that Fujiwara broke the vase.

Yes, but Fujiwara does not know that. Thus the contradiction.

They are not bad people.

Did anyone say otherwise? I'm not sure you followed the conversation all that well.

I know I know the manipulation ends right after it's introduced but it just doesn't sit right with me is all I am saying. I can tell that they both actually enjoy each other's company I just don't like that plot device.

As I said, I was just pointing out a few things, not specifically responding to the conversation.

This was simply part of how I personally responded to the story. Other people may respond completely differently, as is made clear by the conversation. I won't tell either of you how to respond, nor will I tell any other reader how to respond.

I personally like the story and the characters, that is all. Otherwise I would be searching for another scanlation group to take it off my hands. (Actually, I wouldn't have started it in the first place if I didn't like it.) But I do like it so I'll keep doing it myself.

I don't even know why you guys are "arguing".

First of all, elevown has no trouble with english. You're obviously continuing to support your over-analytical self by claiming shortcut words are grammatical errors. And it also shows your ignorance that the internet allows the whole world to be connected. Don't get angry just cause someone has a different culture (which isn't even the case in this thread, you're just being a spelling Nazi).

Secondly, it is not a contradiction that Fujiwara is sad over not having friends and yet has countless confessions. There is a difference between the growing relationship she has with Miu compared to those fan girls that claim to love Fujiwara. Fujiwara is upset that she doesn't have anyone close to her. It seems that it has been that way until Miu came along.

Thirdly, the volleyball club was not distant from Fujiwara in terms of physical closeness but rather intimate closeness. Everyone views Fujiwara as this amazing person capable of being an idol rather than as an equal. That's what she meant by distancing.

I also don't understand why you don't like having lots of confessions for Fujiwara. Please elaborate.

Another thing, why would she be autistic if she thought that some girls weren't being serious with their confessions? There's a stereotype that girls' schools tend to have meaningless relationships between one another as an experimental kind of thing. It isn't strange at all for her to think that some girls weren't being serious, especially when she's surrounded by girls that only scream that she's beautiful. It isn't strange, even in high school, to think that some couple (whether straight or not) isn't that serious.

Honestly, it seems to me like you're purposely trying to rile everyone up.

Posts like this make my heart hurt.

Meh. I wouldn't feel to bad. There's already blatant story contradictions, and it's only been two chapters. Morinaga is losing her touch.

In chapter one the problem was posed that Fugiwara is depressed/upset because she does not think she has any friends/people don't like her. But in this chapter we are told that she has girls confess to her all the time which I fucking hate, and this is an awful story element, forced story progression galore, plus we see the fan girl squad come up to her without a second thought. They are clearly not "distancing" themselves from her.

So, either Fugiwara is autistic and can't pick up glaring obvious social ques or the quality of the writing is going down.

Take your pick, but neither is good.

Eh, but those are girls from the volleyball team, which was already stated that they were the only people who would talk to her. I think she also verified the "has no friends" because she stated that she wasn't sure if the girls confessing were serious or not– as in, are they playing a joke on her?

I mean, with the lack of yuri I try not to be too picky and over-analytical. There are some stories that I really like, and think are well written and everything, but I try not to be too negative about the ones that don't match up to quality. Girlfriends itself was a normal high school cliche anyway, so I think this is just true to most Morinaga stories.

I'm happy when any new yuri comes out, period. And it depresses me when I have to wait a year to finish a story.

I think it's more like Fujiwara doesn't have any REAL friends, not any friends period. Nobody knows, or wants to know the real Fujiwara, they just know she looks like a prince and plays volleyball. They draw their own conclusions from those two perceptions and totally don't bother with treating her like an actual human being. So I don't think the things that you're citing are actually contradictions.

Also, do you know ANYTHING about autism? Of course she doesn't have it. While missing social cues is something commonly associated with spectrum disorders, that standing on it's own means next to nothing. Autistic people have trouble dealing with the world outside of themselves. They rarely make eye contact and sometimes the can't even speak. Fujiwara doesn't even have Aspergers! And to say she can't read social cues is actually really stupid because in the fucking karaoke room she was aware enough to realize Miu felt left out and then-- get this-- /she fucking got up and sat next to her./ How in any way, shape, or form is that an awkward reaction? Further proof she isn't autistic.

Nope, not even a little. I explained why it's a problem, and I said nothing about his spelling. Which is also very bad. And do you honestly think I don't understand the internet is a global concept? More over, I don't know why you would think I'm mad about anything. You would have no reason to assume that unless you were looking for an excuse to dismiss my points without a solid reason why.

There is a difference between the growing relationship she has with Miu compared to those fan girls that claim to love Fujiwara.

That's what she meant by distancing.

You mean the relationship she as no reason to think is anything other than explanation? You're confusing knowledge readers have with the knowledge the characters have of each other. If you want further elaboration why you're wrong just go back and re read the thread because nothing you have said is new in comparison to the people before you.

I also don't understand why you don't like having lots of confessions for Fujiwara. Please elaborate.

On principle I hate any and all harems, implied or otherwise. Because they are nothing more than cop out story telling devices used to forcibly progress the plot with no real justification. Which we already see happening here in the last we pages of chapter two. An irrelevant side character is being used to force Miu and Fujiwara together, or at this point it's really just forcing Miu to acknowledge her feelings for Fujiwara. But it amounts to the same thing. Also other events like "Oh she's so popular I might lose her to someone else" angst. There are example of bad story telling.

Not to mention the whole "everybody is gay point. It is silly and unrealistic to assume so many gay people would be in one place at one time.

There's a stereotype that girls' schools tend to have meaningless relationships between one another as an experimental kind of thing

This is a cliché, not a stereotype. Very big difference. But, that's besides the point you're trying to make. And as it's already been noted that it's stupid to think she could pick of on Miu's vague singles of being upset around those other girls but not be be able to tell if the people confessing to her are serious.

She'd have to be thinking like this. "Oh this girl came up to me all teary eyed, confessed. I rejected her and she left crying... Eeeeh? She must have been just joshing with me; back to volleyball practice".

If that can't be taken seriously no confession can.

Honestly, it seems to me like you're purposely trying to rile everyone up.

Again, you have no reason to think other than you want to dismiss my points with no solid evidence. Just because I don't blindly gush over everything and anything that's tagged as "yuri" does not mean I'm trying to antagonize people.

So I don't think the things that you're citing are actually contradictions.

Key word here being "think". What you personally think is not really relevant to anything. And even if that was the only contradiction, you'd be wrong. Because there are other contradictions that have been pointed out in this very thread.

do you know ANYTHING about autism?

I can't exactly respond to any of these points because you did not pick up on the fact the term "autism" was being used euphemistically, not literally. Everyone else noticed that though. Kind of another reason why anything you think or say does not hold any validity.

I can say the same thing for what you think. These are all opinions. There are all different kinds of ways to look at the same exact thing. THE WAY YOU SEE THINGS IS NOT NECESSARILY THE RIGHT WAY.

And I was only referring to the one you mentioned. I even quoted it. Unlike you I actually have a life and don't have the time anymore to start pointless wars in the forum so I don't really give a damn about all the bitching that's happening. I just didn't like your comment.

So I'm liking the story so far. It's really sad that the releases are quarterly though :( Miu seems interesting. At first the way that she was caring so much about how she looked bothered me since good people really shouldn't waste their time on looks when most of them look fine either way. Now, however, I'm interested in learning more about her mother's backstory. Although I feel like we'll only be seeing glimpses of the mom through Miu's flashbacks.

The plot kinda reminds me of a more light-hearted I Won't Say I Love You Anymore where the girl eventually falls for someone who's insecure and it does more bad than good. (although I'm not sure if it'll be good or bad in this series)

Fujiwara's also interesting. It's always nice to be reminded that amazing people are normal too.

I'm curious about Miu's friends though. I wonder how serious that one girl's feelings actually are... Maybe the other friends will confront Miu in a similar way... That'd get chaotic...

OK completely off topic, how did you end up as a scanlator?

I learned enough Japanese that with some time and effort I could understand a manga in Japanese, Then I bought a manga that I couldn't find a translation for (Her World) and it didn't seem like there would be one. Then I got some old software that was capable of doing the editing and I started experimenting with it; the rest is history. Thanks for asking ciega. Also, the more I translate, the faster and better I get at reading Japanese.

I want to be able to share my thoughts and opinions without them being labeled unpleasant >w>

I love thoughts and opinions as long as they are about the manga. Thanks for a good post.

While I think the story has potential, something has to be done about the main character. She needs to be given more backstory or add something to her character because she is losing me. Maybe the fact that this story involves the whole school is affecting overall point(?). Many of the stories I have read by Morinaga really have a small group of people involved and keeps the focus together. I am hoping that their is a point to the school idol theme but it needs to happen sooner than later. Girlfriend had many tropes in that series but it works better there then here due to 1) slower pacing and 2) somewhat good writing.
