You haven't played Double Dealing Character yet? I'm surprised. (Or am I the odd one here? I don't have a solid point of reference.) Anyway, It has an interesting cast, even for a Touhou game. Several of Seki's attacks involve cloning her head, and almost all of them involve her sending it after you independently.

I found it's rather difficult to keep up with all the new characters. The last game I actually played was MoF and when I really got back to Touhou there were suddenly more Touhous than there are Pokemon.

Honoka's actually the first person Maki has shown interest in the anime so it's pretty viable there, though SID/Manga will probably laugh in your face. I say it's cute af and Inuzuka really loves to draw the two. Heck, the doujin they drew about married HonoMaki was one of my favourites!

In any case, nobody can turn down Honoka. Rule #32 of Love Live, right after Do not give Eli potato chips.

I'm not so much on the games, being more of a doujin fan. So since there's really not that much about DDC characters translated thus far, I'm not so familiar with them.

That would be correct, yes.

My position on Touhou is the setting is pure genius, the characters and stories I've seen are great, and I love the doujins and canon work. However, I'm not a fan of shmups in general, and find bullet hell games frustrating to play. So I don't bother myself with the games at all.

That's too bad, I found the plot of LoLK pretty interesting (and complicated) this time around.
Basically, the stage 5 boss Junko invades the moon with an army of Hell fairies, so the Lunarians try and invade Gensokyo. I'm waiting for some doujinshi to come out relating to that, because it seems like it could be very easily be grimdark.
