until one day she got sick of it and just started fighting them. her favorite tick was grabbing hair, spinning and tossing them. ^^; It was better after that but she didn't need or kill anyone. In some places, sometimes, it is enough just to stick up for yourself.
Well, I never said you need to kill or gravely hurt someone, to make them fear you. It is simply the best way to make sure they will not touch you again. She fought them back and apparently what she did was enough to scary them away. And of course you can always just endure it. I was more talking that sometimes scaring bullies is not that simple and things gets really out of control, where such drastic methods feel like only option you have. Especially when you are put in situation where your life is in actual danger. It is the same issue as with self-defense. Most countries have this laws where you might actually get to prison for using inadequate force to situation and stuff like that. When you fight for your life, there is no such thing as too much. You are doing everything to survive. Those situations are often pretty similar. You are not trying to just scare them a little or enough, if you are doing it, you are doing everything in your power. I was referring to that. How people complained they could just hit them a bit. You honestly can't predict how much is enough to stop bullies and you definitely don't want to just make them more angry. Sure, I kinda forgot to address a whole yandere part, where she clearly went overboard a bit, but the general idea was still the same.
Both cases are obviously different.
They aren't.
The posts you link to are about how MrCatt took liberties with the expressions and idioms, not with the grammar.
He didn't. He added stuff that was not there and rewrote sentences so they would sound funnier/better to him. Also added cursing that did not existed in original. In fact, he didn't rewrite a single expression or idiom. Nice attempt to twist the truth.
And MrCatt is a single person, not a team. Much can be forgiven, especially since it's a manga that had been dropped.
So if it just 1 person quality can be shit? But when it is a team you can expect more? And if it is a already dropped manga, you should be happy anyone is even working on it, even if the quality is the worst trash possible? Who decides on those rules?
If people are ok with it, then fine. Let's all start rewriting mangas! Much less work to do and nobody can complain since it wasn't translated anyway.
I don't know why you pounce on me lately. Maybe I irritate you for some reason and I'm sorry.
With your pathological need to go against majority and trying to defend the most controversial opinion possible. Plenty of people said My Cute Little Kitten translation was terrible, while pointing out issues, but for some reason you went ahead defending it, saying translator can do w/e he wants to, the series was dead anyway, so who cares if he is not being faithful to source material, if you can't do better job, you can't criticize him and your only option is to read his version. In fact you encouraged him to ignore criticism and keep on doing whatever the hell he wants with it in order to keep trolling and angering people on dynasty. And who would benefit from it the most? You, by having more opportunities to have fun by messing with more people being annoyed at terrible translation.
After that, you going anywhere and complaining about any kind of problem with any translation is just the most hypocritical thing I ever saw. It will hunt you forever.
You used to have a clear ideology, but now it seems like you just go against majority and stir controversy for fun, as if actual discussion didn't matter to you anymore.
ohh she knows! and for what she said, "an ordinary person" she mean someone that wont look bad in the eyes of the society, someone "normal" since she knows that Uta is in love with her, aka not and ordinary person, a girl, her sister in law, she said that.
Lol no? Someone normal as, not me who is married to her brother and we can't be together. For now there is not even a slight hint she even consider dating Uta in any way, shape or form whatsoever.

Yeah, but. "If the person is as ordinary as what I imagined" sounds awkward.
I feel the sentence should be "If the person had been as ordinary as what I imagined, we could have stayed.."
In both pages, it switches between present tense and conditional tense and it feels wrong.
Are you seriously telling me the way someone translate sentences matter? That translating them wrong or awkwardly can make understanding manga harder? I thought quality of translation didn't matter as long as you can understand it and it is free anyway. Why are you criticizing it? I thought as long someone is translating it, it is good enough and we should praise them. After all only a squad of grumpy seasoned readers would complain about it. What if they decided to drop it after your complain? You yourself said rewriting entire sentences is ok so I don't understand why you have a issue with such minor details. I hope Chaosteam will make next chapter sound even more awkward, because that is their style.
That might end up being the most significant difference between the two siblings: they both harbor messy and uncomfortable secrets that radically threaten Kaoru's status quo, but while she tries to gloss over and ignore Reiichi's secret no matter how obvious it becomes, she can't help but be honest about Uta.
It isn't. She was avoiding it at first, just like with Uta, but then decided to confront Reiichi about it. He was the one to blow her off and cut the conversation, after which she had no second chance to bring the topic yet. The important talk they are supposedly going to have after he returns, might as well be about or at least in part about this.
I feel a discrepancy here. She hypothesizes on the person Uta likes, then states she knows Uta likes her?
Even if she confessed at the hotel, Kaoru shouldn't wonder who "that person" is.
I think at the end she's turning over the possibilities she was considering before Uta confessed/kissed her/whatever happened to make it clear. Or she was harboring a bit of denial, maybe.
It is pretty clear until that point she was trying to act normal and did not think about what happened, until she realized she was just running out from truth and denying reality. She was still convincing herself somehow that maybe there was some misunderstanding in what Uta told her.
last edited at May 29, 2018 1:52PM
So like... Uta did kiss Kaoru and Kaoru was aware of that the whole time? Or I don't remember the whole story that well?
And, like the cheating of her husband, Kaoru decided to turn a blind-eye to the whole thing until Uta confessed falling in love with an older a person; which then forced to admit that it really happened?
No. The way I understand it is that. After this Uta confessed her love to Karou. But of course it was awkward, so probably either Uta said to forgot about it or one of them changed topic and they carried on with it. Kaoru was probably completely taken by surprise and had no idea how to react. So they spend the rest of trip, come home, went sleep, went back to their routine. After few days, we get that morning scene. Kaoru is thinking who the person Uta could love be. Gives few "typical" scenarios, but then stops and thinks "who the fuck I'm kidding. She just said it was me." So I read it more as them trying to act as if entire thing didn't happen, while Kaoru is trying to figure how she feels about it in her head and only now is slowly coming to realization what it actually means.
EDIT/ You can see that Karou wanted to say "I was sure you will buy luck charm for love" but hold back and how awkward their talk about Uta's wanting to move out to not "cause problems" and Kaoru saying she don't have to hurry was.

Why Manga has censored tender regions but it can show the insides? O.o
As I understand, Japan censorship is badly defined; basically the word is "obscene/indecent" material
Wasn't it just genitalia that they have to censor, because someone brilliant thought, seeing them even in porn is too lewd. Hence they have to cover them, but because it only applies to private parts, everything else is fair game, like tentacles? I thought that was the reason Japanese came up with a lot weird fetishes instead.
You can't stop bulling. People bulling you think they are right. When you go tell teachers about it, at best they will scold them, talk to their parents and after it, you will get bullied even hard. Why because if those bullies will get punished, they will assume it is your fault and will want to get revenge on you. It is never ending circle until you traumatize them. You can't just hurt them, stand for yourself. You have to break them or kill them. That is the only way you will end bulling.
Teachers has no power, those kids don't understand they are doing something wrong. At best it's up to their parents, but if they are not harsh enough, they will never get to them they are doing something wrong. Don't expect morality and sympathy from kids. They are kids.
Nobody will stand for you. Kids are the cruelest thing in the universe. They act using the most basic understanding of the world. If you don't fit with everyone else in any way, they will make fun of you. They will pick you as target and they will see nothing wrong with it. It's your fault for being different. And parents or teaches will never be able to explain to them, that it is wrong. Worse if neither will even try because they won't realize that might be the issue.
People in your class will not care because you are different, weird, so nobody wanted to be your friend to begin with. And in unlikely case the bulling stop, do you think you suddenly will be part of class again? Nope, you were already outcast from the beginning. Nobody will want to have anything to do with you. Unless they will want to make fun of you or bully you instead. Once you become target of bullying once, it is for your entire school life. You will never escape the stigma of it.
Why do you think the best way to stop bulling is beating the living shit out of bullies? Why all those bullied kids went to gym and become strong. Because putting fear of you into bullies head is the only way to make them stop. They bully people they know will not stand up to them and even if they do, they wont do them any harm and they can make even more fun out of their attempts. Maybe if you took a bully to psychologist, they could change something, but who would do that. Nobody would ever think we need to do something that "drastic". They are just kids, they will understand if we explain. No they won't. Sure bullies can grow themselves and change, but it would take years. Good luck waiting few years for them to mature while getting bullied.
Our society is unfair. We have laws to protect our life and make it so we won't kill each other and yet stuff like bulling is most of the time avoiding the right punishment. When you are pushed to your limit, you have 2 options. Run or fight. People who run killed themselves. Even now the amount of suicide in school is big, because nobody can stop bulling for good. Because bulling and exploiting weak is in our nature. So until everyone will raise their kids from day 1, trying to teach them right values and get ride of those basic instincts, bulling will go on. And let's be honest, in era where most parents rely on media, games, school etc. to rise their kids for them and not wanting to spend much time with them themselves, chance of it happening is slim. Not to even mention that most of parents shouldn't be parents in the first place, but yet anyone can just make a kid and that kid will be forced to live with them, no matter how bad they are. Seriously we need to have a driving license for being a parent.
Second option is fight. Here is the place where bullies our protected. We try to kid ourself that we are not animals. We are better than that, but at the end of the day, all those laws and reasoning is worth shit. If you meet a tall, muscular men on the street, not matter how smart you are and how much you can talk and reason with them, if they want to beat the loving shit out of you, they will. And you are powerless to stop it. True be told, whatever you want to say, someone physically strong will usually triumphs over someone who is smart. We can all talk how intelligence is better than just being a mass of muscles, but at the end of the day, intelligence won't stop those muscles from cracking your head open. So as I said before, if you actually want to stop bullies, you need to install fear in them, you need to traumatize them. So your only option is gravely hurt them or kill them. They already inflicted a lot paint to you mental or physical. Probably both. It should be only natural you can get it back to them? Society says no. Because they did it the "right" way. The way that doesn't kill you, don't hurt you badly enough, is not that clear cut, you can't really measure it. But if you want to give it them all back in 1 go, you suddenly went overboard, you did too much, they didn't deserve it. You did what you had to do to survive. You did what they did. You obeyed your instincts. You followed the only rule that matter. Survives of the fittest. And yet according to our "civilized" laws, you are in the wrong, you are the one who should hold back, you are at fault. And all you did was protecting your life. Sure you won, but in the eyes of society you are now done. You're lost case. And even in unlikely situation where you won't be held responsible, everyone will avoid you anyway. So in the end you still lost. You can't stop bulling.
You guys are delusional. Giving all this comments what is and isn't right, how you find it too much, how you should never go that far. You clearly have no clue what kind of a nightmare being bullied is. If you are too weak, you kill yourself, if you are strong enough, you wish death to bullies from bottom of your heart. Those scumbags in that manga deserved everything they got. In fact being traumatized for life might be not enough for punished. If not dead, at least some lasting disability. That for sure would humble them enough and teach them the hard way how it is to be the one who is being looked down on.
Bonus thing. From my knowledge about bulling in Japan, it is ever worse. Because of the ingrained idea about honor and shame of family/business, for Japanese losing face is the worse thing possible. Stuff like abusive relationships, hikikomori etc. are prevalent, because Japanese think as long as you hid it and nobody knows, it is fine. Having gossips and bad word spread about your family/business is worse than actually those things being true. And the same thing applies to school. They prefer to turn a blind eye to bulling than for word about it to spread. Hence teachers etc. actually often ignore it. Also other aspect of it is that being a student in Japan is horrible. Basically from elementary school everyone is putting insane expectations for you, just so you will become a good citizen and grow to be a proper part of society, fitting into its working cogs. You are expected to have perfect marks and get into good middle school because in order to get into good high school, you already need to be in good middle school, because without good high school, you won't get into good university. And it isn't even really about real lvl of school, though it is usually high, but rather the school itself has to be famous and renowned for it to matter. So basically as a kid you are already expect to look that far into your future, when at this point you probably don't even think what you will do tomorrow. When you get into middle school you are expected to also go to prep class for high school after school, because no matter how much you study you need to study more. And yes, even if you are really good at studying, you are expected to go to prep class because people will look down on you and will think you are lazy or something, also it always sounds better when you say you went to prep class. So then you get to high school and then you go to prep classes again because you want to get to that good university, don't you. So when living that kind of live, you build a lot of stress. And what is best thing to relieve your stress? Bully someone! So yes, in Japan bulling comes mostly from the kind of expectations children are put from very young age. Sure you probably have normal bulling too, but that is probably also usually a factor. So usually you have a group of people bulling 1 person and everyone else in class ignores it. Because if they would say anything or even talk to person who is being bullied, they would risk getting bullied as well or instead of that bullied person. So once you become target for bulling in Japan, you are screwed. And you honestly can't do anything. Other classmates won't help you, teachers won't help you and parents won't help you. Your only options again are killing yourself or your bullies.
So no. This manga isn't "edgy". It actually shows you reality.

Halp, I'm really fixed on this one... I though it was from 'I will send her home on the last train' but I searched all the pages and it seems it isn't.
The only thing I remember is that at the end the tomboyish girl who has four brothers takes her new girlfriend home and says confidently 'I got a girlfriend!!' it's a one shot, maybe it had a continuation but I really can't remember.
You are thinking of this.
Lol! This had that scene? How could I forgot about it.

Sorry, I remember this scene, but I don't remember anything else about this story as well.
What's the name of that one shot where two girls got rejected by someone at the same day, they meet up together and hooked up together? (They might have had sex too but I don't remember). I think they also exchanged accessory at the end.
While we're at it, this isn't the Octave discussion. If you want to discuss Octave, go there instead, this isn't the place for it.
And please, try to do the minimum and actually read it before you do.
I wasn't really going to continue discussing it anymore, since I said all I wanted to say, but instead of just deleting my post, you could simply tell me to post it in Octave thread instead. Thanks for making me waste my time.
That reminded me Always Human also had a we need to part for x time ending. It wasn't as much out of the blue as it came at the very end after so far pretty good and believable romance, but in general without much drama or drama was solved quickly and naturally. What was annoying about it was, that the offer itself was presented so poorly, it didn't feel like good offer at all and reading it I felt like there was no real reason to pick it, yet character was agonizing w/e do to it or not. And even worse then supporting character give her good wigging about how she was idiot for getting worked up about it when she obviously should do it, when to me offer wasn't appealing at all. Honestly I actually did not finish it so I don't know how it was resolved, but it really felt as author was near the end of series and had to end it somehow so she decided to go for that cliche but proven and easy to make dramatic ending. The thing is I felt no tension because it was executed so poorly I lost interest in it, when before I was really invested in characters and I couldn't wait to read next chapters. And the worse part, author was actually really good at creating unique situations you don't often see in manga and handling them really well, so ending series with one of the biggest cliches ever felt really disappointing. Especially with how poorly it was executed.
Please don't generalize 'realistic'. What I think of realistic here maybe just simply good story writing. Story that understand people emotion and their problem in life. Not plot driven or drama driven stories.
When people say realistic, they actually mean believable. That characters actions make sense in character and story progress in natural way. No story is actually completely realistic, cos that would be really boring to read.

Second Yukino's one night stand, with the creep in the cab (I know I'm not being fair to him), was less about questioning her sexuality, and more about her feeling lost and lonely. Yukino latched on to the first person who showed her kindness, just because Setsuka shut off her phone, to work, and wasn't available to comfort her.
If Yukino's affair wasn't ment to drive in the knife, the author sure went out of her way to do so. I mean, the exact moment Yukino was cheating on Setsuka, Setsuka was coming to the conclusion that she was totally in love with Yukino. Then Setsuka rushed over to Yukino's apartment, to tell her. Only to fall asleep waiting, so Setsuka could be there to witness Yukino's walk of shame. Then finally, Yukino pushes Setsuka away, out of guilt. If that's not driving home the knife, I don't know what is. The only way that scene could have been anymore heartbreaking for Setsuka, is if she would have walked in on Yukino and the guy doing it.
Wow you missed so much context in that scene. That is what happens when people got blinded the second het appears in yuri story and they are unable to see it as anything more than the worse thing ever, because of their inner rage. You called him creep and said you are unfair to him, that already shows how you treat all male characters equally, as something that shouldn't be there, just because it interfered with yuri in any way. Especially since he was actually being really nice to Yukino and he never forced her to anything. Yukino was feeling lost and lonely, but that was because she wasn't sure about her sexuality and how much Setsuko really loved her. The entire part of that manga is kinda all about it. You are entirely blaming Yukino, but it was equally Setsuko fault, if not even more. Yukino was never before attracted to a woman and she was new to idea of girls loving each other so she was totally lost and confused. Then Setsuko, the person she is supposedly going out with, told her she can try doing it with a guy if she want. Setsuko assumed Yukino will simply reject the idea, saying she loves her so of course she won't do it or something. And that is where she fucked up. Because instead, it confused Yukino a freaking lot, because she didn't expected to be told that and wasn't sure how to take it. Does that mean Setsuko doesn't love her, does she think their relationship is not that serious? So she end up not saying anything and the conversation cut. Setsuko simply forgot about it, since she wasn't serious, but she didn't realize Yukino was thinking about it entire time. And Setsuko didn't help either with how often she seemed to act distant and not care that much about their relationship. Never properly saying they are lovers etc. She wasn't aware of it, but she wasn't really showing Yukino she is serious about it. Yukino is flawed and weak character. She has low self-esteem and a lot of complexes. So put in this situation, her confidence how much their relationship was real kept growing. Getting all depressed over it she felt uneasy and when in the moment she needed it the most she couldn't reach Setsuko, she was feeling so bad, she decided to do what Setsuko told her in a spur of the moment, in order to clear her feelings. Sure, she should simply talk about her issues with Setsuko. She was told to do it, but still she probably should ask Setsuko before doing it (I'm not blaming her for not doing it though, if someone told me it is ok to do something, I wouldn't feel need to confirm it every single time). It probably would clarify Setsuko didn't really mean it and wasn't ok with it. But again that is Setsuko fault. She wasn't ok with it, yet once Yukino gave her no relpy, she never clarified. I'm fine with it, because it fit Yukino's character. She was confused and lost and wasn't sure whatever Setsuko was just playing with her temporary or not. It was important moment for both of them, but especially Setsuko learned the hard way how little affection and confirmation she was showing Yukino, to get her that insecure about their relationship.
That scene is the perfect example how things actually look in real life. People are not perfect. They make stupid mistakes, but they need to learn from them and improve. From the beginning Octave wasn't meant to be your typical fluffy and happy romance. It is more down to earth and realistic, willing to do bad things to characters, but I don't think that is a bad thing, since it fit characters and tone of the story.

mybe cuz ppl are already tired of seeing em in real life, they tend to think that most of realistic stories are mundane n bad
Look. I get it. I avoid sad and tragic stories too. But some people like those kind of stories. It all depends on person and their life. Someone who had a lot of bad experiences, will like to read something happy and far from "reality", while other person who is doing well might want to read something sad to balance it out. It isn't a hard rule, but the point is different people look for different things in fiction. So while you might not like this particular story, there are other people that do and having that kind of diversity in them is good. Imagine how much it would suck if everyone only wrote 1 kind of story, because someone said they only want to read stories like that, but it happened to be the kind of story you don't enjoy.
But once again, I attribute this more to the fact that even the more expensive visual novels normally do not have the financial sway of other games. In the end, Valve is a corporation, and corporations tend to like money more than they tend to dislike specific game genres.
I get that. It is just that actually forcing 18+ games to be censored is both more work on developer part as well as for people who need to review them later. It just make no sense to do it, especially when there are already other games that are not censored at all. Having more money behind them, really doesn't change anything. I bet those VN would actually have more appeal and bring more people, if they weren't forced to be censored, when they are already marked as adult games. My point it, is seems like just waste of time and resources and there is no clear gain for Valve from doing it. Hence, I can't help but think that Valve have some issue with anime and anime styled games specifically.
Only other alternative I can think of there is some behind the curtain deal, where big corporations pay certain amount to have their game not be censored, smaller developers can't afford. That I could understand how Valve would profit from.
On that note, though, I don't believe this has anything to do with Valve having any preconceived disdain for visual novels or anything like that.
VN and games similar to them were unnecessary forced to be censored even when they are 18+ unlike every single other game there is on their platform. And it was like that since beginning of Steam. It is hard to believe Valve doesn't have some issue with them.

em? https://dynasty-scans.com/forum/topics/12660-ookami-shounen-wa-kyou-mo-uso-o-kasaneru-discussion
Yeah, I know.
I should probably post it over there, too, though.
No. I meant you should only post it there. No point making new thread to discuss a series that we already have a thread for. And it doesn't even have a lot of comments, so it isn't like it would get lost in conversation or something...
W/e the case, it was removed, so either Valve don't care or their system is just like YT content ID where anyone can claim to have copyrights to anything and they immediately remove it taking their word for it. Guilty before proven innocent. But at least in YT case you can reliably repel those claims. In Valve case it seems you can't do anything, so yea. Glad they run away from steam and I hope all other VN will do it as well. Find place where they don't have unnecessary censored freaking 18+ games. That is just ridiculous and Valve was doing it from the very beginning to VN, unlike all other games.
Oh right! I forgot we live in a fucking cultural vacuum and positive portrayals of rape doesn't have terrible negative repercussions, like fucking normalizing rape culture and the romanticizing of abusive relationships!
It doesn't. If you weren't likely to rape someone before, after reading it, you won't suddenly start raping young girls. You're supposed to tell fiction from reality.
Then again, if it is true. You are better off making crusade against 50th Shades of Grey, which romanticize abusive relationship and is read by millions of people world wide thinking it is legit romance story. Not some niche yuri manga, that probably doesn't sell that well.
Seriously?!! It just ends in two chapters?... Fuck that's sad, the potential was big!
I don't know like, what about the number one fighter's story (the flower <3)? What about big ear girls fights in tourney? Like, the author established a world, they teased a end goal with several level to passe and stuff... They teased a long story about mma and they stop right there... Why? :(
The most likely explanation is. It didn't sell well so got axed. Alternatively author only planned to go that far, but that is rarely the case.
I'm so happy to hear that!
Either way, read it for Shino. She grew up a bit now and Hime x Shino moment was adorable as fk :D
I thought nobody was working on it though. Where do you read it since it doesn't seem to be uploaded on manga sites.
No one worked on it because the official English translation was out.
There is proper scan of the official book floating around though. Not sure if I will violate the forum rule by point it out or not though
I see. I knew it was dropped because of being licensed damn you americans!, but I was wondering why it seems like some people still read ahead. That explains a lot.
Also only linking or naming "bad" manga sites is against rulers which is stupid in the first place
