I would have not expected Aoto Hibiki to be a late comer. (Then again, nine years ago, nearly 10, means it was relatively early in her yuri mangaka career).
How cute!

Now she makes me midnight snacks.
And comforts me when I pull an all-nighter to meet a deadline.

Okay, fine. I'm almost a bit jealous now.

Yeah in this short she mentioned making Yuri for 10 years and she's been a relationship for 9 years, so it was about a year into her life as a Yuri mangaka that it hit her lmao

Autobiographical Mangaka Yuri keeps being the best tag trio.

awww this is so sweet TT ! in her other autobio comic she does mention being a "straight" yuri manga artist, which is a really funny concept and i bet not too uncommon either. come to think of it, are there any yuri manga about "straight" yuri manga artists that realise they're not so straight after all?

it really makes me wonder just how many lesbians and bisexuals in Japan think that they're straight, since this seems to be a very common trope in their fiction at least

No idea, but i know a lot of lesbians and bi outside of Japan think they're straight well into their adult years as well.
Even putting aside social norms, a lot of people just don't question that about themselves until some big reveal fall down on them sometimes in the form of they happen to fall in love with someone.

Funny enough just last month i was in conversation with some acquaintances, one woman was asked when did she realize she was bi. She answered basically 2 years ago when she fell for the girl who she is currently dating. She was 31 when that happened.
reminded me a bit of Sakuma.
