Ill take a swing at it, might be wrong about some stuff but in broad strokes:
In Nightreign the "Night" is this like powerful destructive force that the player characters (these two included) are fighting back against
Revenant (the doll) is a doll given life by the night, in a way you could say she runs on the stuff. Undertaker (the other character) has some kind of affliction where she has to consume uncontrollably and she has found the Night especially satiating, so revenant smells/tastes amazing to her
