I think this is also extremely true to the spirit of the show. People with learning disabilities especially severe ADD (and apparently dyspraxia) identified with Yui and her (consequent) extremely low self-esteem. "Thank you for loving someone like me" is exactly what the Yui on K-On! would have said.
