I didn't noticed WuWa sub talking about NIKKE, this subreddit was so vile I stopped reading after few comments.
I noticed that the more game's plot is VN-style and more concentrated on MC they more likely is to have majority of "ships" include MC, and also if MC is "invisible"/featureless self-insert the less 2 non-PC characters ships they are. It's also happen much more if game have massive imbalance of male/female and even all female cast. How many artworks M!Sensei, M!Doctor or M!Commander etc. have comparing to their F! counterparts. Most Hoyo games have MC being a part of the story, but other characters have a lot of characterization and plot-relevancy so it help creating actual ships between them, not just feeling everything with self-insert protag/character (usually M!MC/Female character).
And that just SFW artworks, with NSFW it's like 50% male protag with female character, 45% unseen/anonymous male with female character/protag and 5% other combinations.

I will throw out that at least Arknights has some of my favorite F/F ships across the cast in gacha, maybe my personal favorite. Though with the Doctor there are a lot of M/Doc shippers for certain, and it's interesting to me how that really doesn't reflect canon and especially compared to most gachas. The Doctor is generally sickly and frail, they're the last person I'd expect to fuck or have much/any libido. Plus there's a lot of stories The Doctor isn't even involved in, which I personally like. I prefer the Doctor to have more of a familial relationship with most of the characters they're intimately close with, and I view my Doctor as any of the following They/Them -> They/She -> She/Her. I also prefer to view player characters as their own character, and I'm not one for self insertion in general. In conclusion I avoid the male self insert side of the fandom as much as I can lol
