Huh, they finally post this short comic that I seen months ago XD

i would hope that Matsuda-san is at least a manager after working at the same convenience store for 13 years lol

Probably since the other random guy in the background appear in page 2...Tho...Technically it only been 10 years probably, since they met when they both 17 and 14 years old respectively (27 and 24 years old in last page, their daughter is 9).

220K Yen is pretty decent for a newly hired at a company...Plus she said she already got a house (Good Apartment or inherited a small house from parents??) and claims she is confident she can promoted...So that 220K Yen per month can easily turn into 300 to maybe even 400K per month in a few years of hard work...Basically meaning 50 to 100% pay increase if she work hard and get promoted to higher positions in the next 4-7 years.

Paying for your health insurance is very pricey in the USA (Depends on plan and job benefits) though so I get why living in the US can be hard with only $18,500-20,000 per year...Rent cost so much these days too compared to the 1990 to 2010....Prices of houses and rent[Rent money eats up most of living cost for most people] practically increase like 50-100% depending on which state you live in...

Though technically if Former Gal Mama work for a couple or few more years (slightly above average pay for manager position) while staying at her future waifu's place/apartment/house she can save a lot rent money and pool that money for a emergency stash for the future.

Matsuda hit the jackpot having such a 'LOCK IN' future waifu/spouse. She says she want money due to not having enough time to spare for romance so MC studied and got a good job (Plus minor hints that she already met her future daughter a few times during the years.) That is what I call 'DETERMINATION'....

Very attractive height lol XD

Yes abortion is legal in japan [Assuming the go*gle-search is right] so unless specific circumstances (Like if your over 22 week pregnant or etc.) then Former gal could have gotten one (Assuming she had like 1200-2000 dollars to pay...Not covered by health insurance I think? Hopefully they take creditcard...). Guess Former Gal wanted to have kept her child despite how hard and how money you need.
Parents kicked her out [Not enough details on that situation about parents so unless they were just somewhat neglectful overworking parents who never tried to teach her/raise her right leading to her acting out by being a delinquent gal then they might have overreacted a bit too much...not enough information which could lead to various dozen interactions there that I can hypothesize.]

Well..Laws and regulation in other countries like USA and etc. also depends on the state or place as well....making laws and regulation, --> Fixing or modifying them is a fking headache at times...Sometimes you met bullsh*t laws or regulation or even weird stupid doctors at rare times sadly...Also (Rare 5-10% case) dangerous criminal get punished lightly while minor offender get punished unreasonably harshly...K*ckStreamer that constantly harass people though I don't care about, they are used to be made a example of...

In the US, whether health insurance covers abortion varies significantly by state and plan type???
Again...Living is fking expensive and sad.

Clerkgirl could be one of the rare Christian Japanese people, or otherwise not wanting abortion.

One of the many unfortunate elements of patriarchal societies is that they tend not to care about the agency, health, and safety of women. Focusing instead on controlling and oppressing women. Japan has a lot of problems in that regard from what I know, though at least from my outsider perspective it seems less intense than the US right now. As the US has people in power that actively hate women, which also includes issues tied to it being a Christian country, and the church is a patriarchy organization as well. I could go into more but this isn't the place to, so I'll just say that it's terrible all around.

Clerkgirl could be one of the rare Christian Japanese people, or otherwise not wanting abortion.

Yeah the relationship might not have worked out, but not wanting to have an abortion is entirely reasonable. It's a heavy choice to make for many. Plus on the positive side here it looks like the kid will end up with two loving mothers, and a good home.

220k a month that's like $24,000 a year

That's 2.64M yen or $18,500 USD a year

You're using exchange rate; I was using an approximation of PPP, which is more relevant (rent doesn't become more expensive just because the yen falls against the dollar, ditto domestically provided services like childcare or healthcare); officially the PPP is 94 yen per dollar, I used 100 because I'm lazy and it's close enough.

(lazy indeed: Y220k / 100 -> $2000/month, *12 for 24,000/year. More accurately, it could be as high as $28,000/year in PPP. It helps that you can find cheaper rent in Japan than in similar-ish US cities today, while spending little on transportation or health care.)

yeah this number jumped out to me as really low. $24k/year (~$11.54/hr) is below min wage where i live

but i know Japan has a bunch of social safety nets and such that the US doesnt has so its hard to compare. generous equivalent maybe $48k/year? plus shes allegedly a homeowner

They're more problematic on the ideological aspect.
One of my female friend (single) there runs an enterprise and other people always assume she is secretly someone's mistress. It seems neigh impossible to them that women can be self-sufficient or financially successful without men.
