Ok I am seeing tons of love live! material on this site but I don't know the characters. Is watching the anime or reading the manga worth it?

If you like feel good, slice of life anime and idols, I think you'll enjoy it. Watch the anime though if you want to understand the characters. 90% of all fan works are based off the anime.

I didn't really care much for the movie, but damn I do love all these pictures.

Depends on whether you like shows like Seinfeld. The series is basically a slice-of-life comedic drama about college otaku without any real plot arcs or major conflicts. What makes it really different from other series, though, is how it doesn't stick to standard anime/manga tropes and instead tries to go for more "realistic" characters and events.

I'm not quite sure why, but this is a pairing I really like

^I don't know about Japan but in Germany the legal age for drinking beer is 16 so I don't really see the problem with this :p

YES!!!! The only Ayase I ship Umi with and it's great. I love it. Really wish there was something cute about NozoEri and Arisa x Umi. It's rare you see any Nozomi and Umi interaction and I think it'd be cute if dating the Ayase sisters brought them together as friends. 0///0
