But yea I was reading more age gap stuff the other day (I love it), and I did in fact read one with someone 5'6" and I was like "oh come on, I'm nearly a foot taller than you"

To be fair, 5'9" is taller than the average size of a Japanese adult man, and a good 7 inches taller than the average Japanese Woman. (and in fact even slightly taller than the average adult woman in the Netherlands or Danemark, who are some of the tallest in the world).
At 6'4" you're taller than the
average adult Men in the Netherlands.

Now I need a yuri about a tiny 1,45m Japanese woman and a tall 1.94m foreigner. They'd need a Steplader to kiss.
