This always happens to bigger companies on creative fields. Another good example is Electronic Arts. Smaller projects are simply forgotten, because their profit return isn't as high. Niche products disappear. Then it devolves doing the same thing in different covers (endless sequels until the brand has been milked dry). Also, big focus on merch instead of the product itself. Products are as bland and inoffensive as possible, and only purpose is to create maximum profit.
