Maybe the author hasn't really even thought about it- but if they are NOT out to their parents and it was a big deal to keep if from them , then they would be acting like idiots because they are always all over each other even in public and school and at home, so no way it would stay secret for long.. They just dont act at all like they need to hide it.

I've no clue if we will ever find out for sure tho- the whole series is just little skits between these 2, and doesn't seem to want to expand to include family and friends etc.
