My actual criticism for nami is that she should have interfered sooner. If she did what she did before sungji' arrival, sumin and seju may have resolved the problems already.

Honestly, I'm curious how it is too. I mean, we know Sumin and Nami knew each other because they went to the same school(HS?) but were they friends already by then? You can know of each other in school but not actually be acquainted or friends with each other. So the possibility of becoming friends only after some time after is still there.

If anyone can confirm they were already friends from previous chapter please do.

But basically, I'm guessing Sumin might now have shared with things with Nami soon enough? Maybe it was only really clear to Nami once the things started to escalate and Sumin had a different type of relationship with Sungji that she made her move. Also, Nami may not feel like she had reason enough to interfere until that moment?

After all, even as a friend or family member...I wouldn't think that it's my right to really interfere with other people's relationship that way unless I see reason enough...especially a relationship as complicated as Sumin/Seju's. So you can't really blame her as much. After all, it seems like she does give unsolicited advice when Sumin does being Seju up. However, we kind of have to take note that Sumin doesn't really like talking about the complicated nature of her relationship with Seju.

Frankly, I'm just glad that she was able to comfort Sungji about Sumin when they were on a break. Telling Sungji that she should eat well and take care of herself despite things was good advice. After all, she knows how the past Seju/Sumin ended up.

Can we just agree that Nami isn't the epitome of the most ideal friend?

Epitome and ideal are subjective. I doubt you will find 100% agreement.

she's the character that says all the harsh things people wouldn't say

I would say a lot of what Nami said in real life. Fuck, I am harsh. lol.

she's not easy to like or even get along with in real life

Really? IMO, Nami is the type that is easy to get along with comparing to Sumin (cool/cold), Sungji (slow/expressionless), Seju (mysterious/reserved). With Nami, what you see is what you get.

she comes across as an annoying sibling or cousin that does sh*T just to mess with you but always has your back

To me, this is a friendship goal. Casual friends have to cross a barrier to get to this level of honesty and comfort. Nami offers this from the get-go.

Nami did kind of pressure Seju to have sex with her

It is definitely not an honorable pursue but not an unethical one either. They are two 30-something years old women, both of them are responsible for their actions.

Random thought, I have a feeling Seju does not like Nami, not because of Nami's flirt, but because Nami can see through her barrier and is not afraid to stir up Seju's hidden emotion, hurting her pride in the process.

Lol, calm down. The point that I was trying to say is that Nami is the type that not everyone would like but isn't as bad as most people would think. I mean, I like her too but I'm not blind to the fact that Nami can be difficult for people. Like Nora doesn't like her because of her nature but you and I actually find it likable.

Random thought, I have a feeling Seju does not like Nami, not because of Nami's flirt, but because Nami can see through her barrier and is not afraid to stir up Seju's hidden emotion, hurting her pride in the process.

This is on point. But I also like to think it's because she might have known that Nami had also slept with Sumin that one time. Lol.

Do you think that the new TL is almost like a carbon copy of Nami in terms of personality since it's the type that she hates?

Epitome and ideal are subjective. I doubt you will find 100% agreement.

Maybe not 100% but most of opinions wont be in Nammi's favor.

Many readers think of Nammi as someone who is cool and wise but as a friend, I dont want to have her as a friend.

Most of us saw her action with Seju is trying to make Sumin out of her shell. For the most part, its true but Nammi also used the situation to gain something for herself. There are various ways of making Sumin angry and jealous of her. Pretty easy, really, considering Nammi can easily go on news or spreading wrong rumours about her and Seju. However she chose to push Seju to sleep with her, using her smartass brain and situation.

You can see it as her being a good friend but you'll also see it as a friend who use your friend's weakness to gain something for herself. It depends on your view but I dont want to have a friend who knows my complicated relationship with my ex but still hitting on her and pushing her to sleep with that friend without telling you first. That's backstabbing and I'll find it hard to deal with this kind of friend.

To me, this is a friendship goal. Casual friends have to cross a barrier to get to this level of honesty and comfort. Nami offers this from the get-go.

Well, if Nammi didnt see something special in this Sungji girl. Will she willingly interfere and talk Sumin out of her circle with Seju? Or she'll let her be even though she saw it as toxic and sick relationship? She'll stay out of that till the day Sumin die cause of sex overdose? Lollll

A friendship goal should've tried to talk her friend out of that circle, harshly in Nammi's tone, and face the truth way earlier than 10 years already, especially when she assumed that Seju was the one who told that red hair's fiance about Sumin.

we could make a theory that she actually only interfere in their relationship because she thinks Sungji is special and Seju is more vulnerable to be pushed into sex with her so she went with it? It might or might not be true but that's another way to see Nammi's actions.

Really? IMO, Nami is the type that is easy to get along with comparing to Sumin (cool/cold), Sungji (slow/expressionless), Seju (mysterious/reserved). With Nami, what you see is what you get.

This she does xD, but I've always think Sumin is the one who is easiest to get along, before the incident, of course. Cute, nice and friendly.

It is definitely not an honorable pursue but not an unethical one either. They are two 30-something years old women, both of them are responsible for their actions.

Yes, they do have responsibilities for their actions but well, not a nice action to push an unwilling girl to have sex with you cuz of some weakness only you know.

Random thought, I have a feeling Seju does not like Nami, not because of Nami's flirt, but because Nami can see through her barrier and is not afraid to stir up Seju's hidden emotion, hurting her pride in the process.

Seju doesnt like Nami because of her actions, not because she could see through Seju's emotions. Sungji also sees through Seju's emotions better than Nammi but Seju doesnt dislike her. Who could like a person that pushed you to have sex with her when you are not willing to @___@

uhhhh, you made it sounded like Nami blackmailed Seju into sex or something =.=. She teased and asked for a drink, but Seju was the one who chose a hotel and got "physically aggressive". Given Seju's wealth and power, she could have easily shut down Nami. Why did she go along if she was so unwilling? Did she breakdown because of the unwilling sex, too? When Nami asked Seju what she was to Sumin, and said Seju was always standing on the side watching and waiting, I read it as Nami was directing it at both herself and Seju because she also had a feeling for Sumin. To me, it was more like two lonely women trying to use each other to trigger a reaction from their common crush than one was pushing another into involuntary sex.

I would not put that kind of constraint on my friend if I already broke up with my ex, since then, cycled through 29 girls and happily dating another girl while my ex is miserably lonely and cannot move on. But it is a preference, nothing to argue here.

So the writer tweeted this very recently:

수민이랑 세주 풋풋연애할 때면 1990년대인데 삐삐로 연락했을까 데이트하고 헤어지면서 수줍게 삐삐칠게 하는 수민이... 17171771 이런거 보내고...

With Google translate:

When I was in the 1990s, when I was in love with Su-min and Se-Ju, I was in a picnic with a picnic girl.

Or if you separate the sentences from those numbers (which is apparently a Korean song):

When I was in the 1990s, when I was in love with Su-min and Se-ju, I contacted Pipi. 17171771 I'm sending these ...

Can someone properly translate this, because Google translate can only do so much... Do you think it's significant in any way?

Its nothing significant. Basically its a troll tweet xD. Its said "Back in the days, Seju and Sumin was dating in 1990s era when there was no phone yet. To be able to contact each other, they used pager. After they broke up, Sumin also used it to hit on girls. Her number is 17711771", lolllll

Don't people always advise to chase your dream because you will regret things you didn't do instead of the things you did?

see, there are boundaries and considerations that should be taken into account. Chasing a dream when you know that your "friend" is the one who has it and the dream itself doesn't want you is truly something interesting about Nammi (in a bad way)

Defeat? I don't think nami considered it a competition to begin with. She did it to prove a point or because it was fun.

well, she said it: " I struck out" unofficial and "can't help it" official. Back then she didn't do it to prove a point, she wanted to sleep with Seju and wanted maybe more from her.. emotional maybe.. but Seju saw right through her.

She never hides it, so more like front "stabbing" hahaha?

you've got a point here XD

It is a play, not a serious pursue though. Do you think nami would actually date sungji if sungji took the bait? She may sleep with her and tell sumin 'hey look, this girl ain't your soulmate. Go find a better one.'

well, She will enjoy it .. sleep with her, date her and whatever.. Nammi didn't show any kind of ethical limit in this department.. not in ch 31 and what she told Bang uri and not with trying to sleep with a drunk girl.

Maybe, maybe not. Rumor had been flying around already. And hey, if seju wants to date sumin again, she will need to get out of the closet sooner or later.

the whole world is not America and not Europe.. Seju is living in Korea, this a significant damage to her image.. social defamation even. Should I remind you of what she thought the reason behind Sumin's scar.. or the phone call she got from her family member in ch49 ?

To me, this is a friendship goal. Casual friends have to cross a barrier to get to this level of honesty and comfort. Nami offers this from the get-go.

I have a sister who is like that, but in reality.. I avoid anyone who is like Nammi.. acts with no consideration whatsoever, loud and basically has no boundaries.

Random thought, I have a feeling Seju does not like Nami, not because of Nami's flirt, but because Nami can see through her barrier and is not afraid to stir up Seju's hidden emotion, hurting her pride in the process.

really?? Nammi can see through Seju?? she has mistaken the reason Seju went through the blind dates (which was actually to protect Sumin.. I will explain this later on) and she has wrongfully accused Seju for ratting out the red head.. I mean Seju doesn't care at all about how Nammi thinks of her and she said it in multiple occasions, let alone trying to defend herself on front of her !
It was belittling that most important thing Seju ever had is what made her break down. Not Nammi's super knowledge about her.

in that chapter, Seju explained why she went along with it.. Seju kept asking Nammi many times what was that she wanted.. and Seju knew it wasn't just sex, and for that she told her: don't kid yourself, this doesn't change anything. Seju: if this is what you want to try out, do it ..etc
Nammi wanted more than Seju's body.. and for Seju to go along with it is to show her that what she seeks is impossible.

In this whole Nammi Seju thing, I have the same question that Nammi had.. how come Sumin didn't blow off on her but on Seju! XD

I agree. Also, according to this blog:

"It means "I Love You." Actually it's like a code-breaking. So see how it becomes the words.

Let's turn the numbers "17171771" a 180-degree, and then it becomes like this "ILLILILI"
and here, make some blanks between some words. It goes like this. "I L LI LI LI"
Now, it becomes. "I LUV U" Got it?!

Briefly, This is how "17171771" turns into "I LUV U"
17171771 -> ILLILILI -> I LLILI LI -> "I LUV U""

Pretty cool.

Yeah, I agree! The writer probably chose that number with that purpose.

In this whole Nammi Seju thing, I have the same question that Nammi had.. how come Sumin didn't blow off on her but on Seju! XD

Because Sumin loves Seju romantically and is more possessive of her as a result, I think.

I see Nammi as someone who was necessary for the plot to move forward. She did bring out Sumin's jealousy and inner feelings, because Seju was not planning on sleeping with anyone else and Nammi is one of her closest friends. So it was like being stabbed twice, once by your close friend (who you also slept with) and another by the one you have been in love with.

Also, she has arguably seen most of Sumin and Seju's history, that's why she doesn't think Sumin "knows a thing a two" about love, from chapter 85. I guess that's just my perspective.

all what you said I agree with. However, the fact that Sumin never really truly got angry on Nammi even when she knew that the news "could be actually true" is quite suspicious. But it also shows Sumin's tendency to blame Seju for everything wrong happening.. so even Nammi's trials would be Seju's mistake in Sumin's eyes.

That's probably the reason right there. XD

What will it take for Sumin to finally "wake up" and realize Seju doesn't deserve the blame? I know of one thing (the ring), hoping it is enough. On the other hand, if the bartender theory were true, that would do it.

Because she has zero right to blame anyone. She was screwing Sungji in the office the same day(?). She blew up on Seju out of surprise, jealousy and most importantly entitlement. Nami's action was not without warnings. She made it clear from her first appearance, "women with big boobs", "president baek", and constantly picking on Seju, Sumin did not scold her any of that. It's like Nami: "I am gonna do it", Sumin: "don't care", "I am really gonna do it", Sumin: "whatever", Nami: "I am doing it".

Actually when I read that scene, this was what I drew out:

Seju doesnt want to have sex with Nami but she let her because of the words Nami had said. She wanted Nami to leave them alone and just simply shut up xDDDDD. Also, maybe she wanna test the waters with Sumin's feelings

Nammi actually wanted to break the curse. She wanted Seju to move on from Sumin so she tried this method for her own gain as well as gave Seju a chance to feel sth else, sth different than Sumin xDDD. "I guess I struck out" => means her plan couldnt be successful.
=> And btw, that was the real moment when Nammi actually realized just how much Seju loves Sumin. Nammi didnt know, for her, Seju is toxic for Sumin with all her actions

All in all, I dont find the connection between two lonely souls for the love they cant have like you said. I saw a girl who wanted to be left alone and a girl who thought she knows it all and tries to do sth but ironically, problem is the latter doesnt even fully understand the former's feelings

Honestly, I've seen a lot of people wants Nammi for Seju(most of them, sadly, are teamblonde lovers who just want their ship to be endgame so they couple Seju to the only one available for their ship's sake) and I strongly opposed that idea. Nammi and Seju doesnt match, in every effing way, Seju once she loves, she loves with all her heart and she strongly goes after what she wants, what she needs, Nammi feels like an coward who never be able to face her real feelings and love, who hides her own feelings and play around with multiple girls, and the most important point is Nammi doesnt even love Seju.

I've been thinking of something similar to this. Been thinking that maybe Nammi thinks that in order for Sumin and Sungji to really work, Sumin needs to face her past and break the invisible thread that ties her to Seju. By confronting the buried emotion of love for Seju. Thus freeing her from the "curse". Or something along those lines. Maybe.

I read something that i think would best describe Sumin and Seju:

Two people who are so deeply connected that their souls have fused together. All the things that smother the fire are still there, but the the communion between them is unbreakable.

Hi, I am new here. I have been reading WDTFS for quite some time now but haven't been on a forum before.

I would like to ask if any of you know other works by Team Gaji?

nope.. this is their first serialisation. However, Gaji, the artist, published two one-shots independently from Lezhin and can be found for free
1- A Pet's Aesthetic
2- Fan art of Overwatch game.

Thanks! Sorry for the late reply.

Do you guys think sumin's parents are murdered by someone from seju's family(and they pretended that it was an accident. In chapter 58, that guy told sumin that seju's mother might have been murdered). That might explain why sumin is cold towards seju even before the bartender incident. In addition, why do you think seju's father send her parents overseas? Did her parents work for seju's father? Since we know that sumin and nami are from the same high school and nami's parents are doctors, perhaps sumin's parents are professionals as well. Maybe lawyers, accountants, etc. But if that is the case, why would seju's father plan to send sumin and seju overseas? Won't that endanger their lives?

I have a possible theory that one of the three main characters might die at the end of the series(most probably seju or maybe sumin)

I don't think it will be a meaningful ending if seju dies and sumin ends up with sungji (still unabale to move on from seju). Another possible ending would be that she discovers how much she loves seju, and decides to leave sungji as she knows she won't be able to love her more than seju.

If sumin dies, I think seju will either try to commit suicide or try to find ways to take revenge for her (considering the cause of sumin's death)

I don't think there will be any major plot progress if sungji dies, as I think that sungji's presence isn't really the major issue why sumin and seju can't be together ( I think there is something much deeper to it than what Team Gaji has shown us).

On the side note, do you guys think that sungji is completely gay, from chapter 39 she clearly has a celebrity crush on an actor and she even called him sexy(lol!). Well sumin is her first love so we don't really know.
