@Nezchan it's just due to how the series was adapted, it's out of order. The first season skipped a lot of chapters, those skipped chapters got adapted in the second season. Season 2 has the moment Hotaru fell in love while season 1 has her gushing over her crush. There is actually a watch order to see all the events in chronological order and it makes the whole thing make a lot more sense.

I don't see how Hotaru's crush on Komari was disturbing really? SHE is the one who is a lot younger - and the other party is childish and also totally unaware. You can say Hotaru was excessive, but I think obsessive is a bit unwarranted.

She is mainly hung up on how cute Komari is and making lots of plushies, but her behavior when with Komari is generally pretty normal. I think her behavior was mostly innocent and childlike not disturbing or yandere like at all.

Yes, it's basically a visual representation of the body modifications that were done to her, separating her from other humans. Story-wise, her blood flows very slowly, causing cyanosis in kind of an extreme way, and also allowing her a very steady hand, useful for a sniper.

Of course, the same story elements also mean she has almost no strong emotions so most/all of the Widow x whoever yuri doesn't work unless you ignore that part entirely.

Fortunately, we're very skilled at ignoring inconvenient story elements when they get in the way of our fave ships.

You're strapped to a chair. Darkened room. Single 100w incandescent clear-glass lightbulb dangles a few feet over your head. Shuffling can be heard in the middle distance but the glare from the bulb makes it impossible to make out anything other than dim shapes.

A door opens. Steps approach. Heavy boots from the sound of the footfalls.

A figure emerges from the darkness. A short but nonetheless imposing figure. Red eyes seem to glow in the reflected light from the bulb.

She leans in, her nose inches from your face. Her grin could stop a train. You catch a faint whiff of cheap vodka. And she whispers...

"Nico-Nico-Nii!"

Tooru is so cute and charming. I really wish we could see some real romance.
