Huzzah! I have returned. I come with the gift of an update on my first draft I shared earlier. I followed Nez's advice and just wrote what came to my head and left it at that. Occasionally I'd make a few tweaks, but that's only if I thought I'd forget to do so otherwise. I also have a title.

A Walk on the Wild Side

That is, of course, a reference to this song. It's taken a bit out of context, but the message of the song is quite similar to the message of my story. As always, feedback of all kind is welcome. Honesty is my number one policy for writing, so remember that. As Nez explained, this is not a reflection of the final product. Things will change and what I've written isn't too good in its current state. Keep that in mind, too.

Without further ado, I will now show you the new stuff along with what I wrote previously (with some modifications to that too, so don't worry. It's not spam ;).)

I can't tell you the reason I am the way I am. In all honesty, how could I? Whether there's some force at hand within the realm of impossibility or pure coincidence drives it all, I'm ultimately myself. I've got a hunch how I came to know I was different than all the other girls. It must've been third grade and the way I looked at Chloe Waltz, or maybe it was first grade at the playground and how I always insisted that no one but me was better fit for the task of saving the princess. Regardless, I always stood out among my peers from the very start. My parents worried whether I'd be able to fit in once I got older and my differences became more apparent. Be that as it may, let me introduce myself.
My name is Alice Anne Gable, but you can call me Al. I know it seems odd to go by a guy name, but I think it fits me. I'm currently 15 and about to start high school. Most of the friends I made in middle school don't really like me anymore. Mom says it's because teenage girls are petty, but I think there's more to it than that. If there's one thing I could not stand, it was talking about boys. Every day it seemed there was mention of some stupid guy and his pretty looks or his cool demeanor. Man, I could not care less even if I tried! Usually, while one girl or the other was blabbering away, I'd shift my eyes towards one of her friends and observe a pretty feature. It's a nice idea, I think. Look at every girl you see and you'll find at least one thing you think looks good about her. With Jessica Blake, it was her eyes. For Amanda Klay, it was her hefty bosom. Eventually, however, my friends caught on to what I was doing and ditched me.
So I didn't have a lot of expectations going into school today. I just ate my breakfast, brushed my teeth, and headed out the door. Things went as I'd imagined. Classroom expectations were given out, the halls were loud, cliques were forming right before my eyes, and I was left to my own devices. That is, until 6th period. I'm walking down the hall trying to get to class, minding my own business, when all of a sudden I hear a girl within spitting distance holler,
"Of course, you'd say that you closet-hiding psycho fucker! Come on, babe! Take a walk on the wild side! Even breeder girls can't resist my sweet ass."
Who is she? What's wrong with her?
"Yo! Plane jane, with the long brown hair, I see you."
Before I can think, this girl sprints over to where I am and effortlessly drags me to the nearby lockers. What does she want from me? Not-so-discreetly, she takes me aside and explains to me,
"All these basic bitch-ass freshmen keep talking about some bohemian-looking lesbo chick named Al. That's one lousy fucking name, am I right? Not like mine's any better. Anywho, you don't happen to know her, do you? You seem like the type to associate with that kind of person. Come to think of it, you kind of match the M.O."
"Do people really think I look bohemian?"
"Well, I'll be damned, it is you! I can't believe I found you. To answer your question, I don't think so. My gut just told me that you would be. Either way, my name is Serenity Flowerchild. So what's up, my lady-loving friend?"
"I don't know. Um, I've got to go to class. I'm sure you do too, Serenity. Goodb-"
"Oh shit, you're totally right. Sorry about that. Hold on for just a sec."
Serenity pulls a scrap of paper out of her pocket and gives it to me.
"I was saving this for that bimbo I was talking to earlier, but I think you should have it instead. It's my number, call me whenever. That way we can pick up where we left off. Peace!"

I guess, but at the end of the day all human beings are species that are forced into living with others, so acting with basic decency is something we are forced to strive for.

I mean, even if someone doesn't like people, if they want to get anything done with help to others, being nice helps. You don't have to like someone, but there's a code that everyone follows. Friendliness, while not mandatory, is something that really helps.

This is why concepts such as 100% human self depandancy are rubbish, doesn't matter how much we want it, we have to work in group.
