^ Thanks! It went rather well actually \(^o^)/

hmm…I like the Sleepaway Camp Trilogy, the 1st one was a bit mixed but the 2nd and 3rd were pretty good. Other works include, not limited to the 80s:

  • Final Exam
  • My Bloody Valentine (original)
  • The Blood Widow
  • The Burning
  • Urban Legend
  • Nail Gun Massacre

@Rina Good luck!

I never really managed to convince myself to enjoy slashers, although I've found first three Final Destinations movies to be fun. Sure, not requiring a lot of brainpower, but it's not a bad thing.

@Rina - if you're on a slasher bend, why not go old school and watch Carrie (ok, it's not really a slasher and it's from the 70's, but it's good)? and you've watched all the Nightmare on Elm Streets and all the Amityville Horrors (welp imo, one only needs to watch the original cuz the others sucked)? yeah, i didn't add Fri. the 13th's because how many ways can Jason realy be killed before it gets boring???

Congrats! (^__^)b
I always hated presentations and tried to avoid them wherever I could. I'm too shy to stand in front of crowds... Glad that it went well for you!

And thanks for the recommendations!
Maybe I'll treat myself to a slasher tonight ;)
I'm too focused on TV Shows lately... Rarely watch movies... I think it's time to change that again...

^ Thanks! and Np :> And aw, well I guess it can't be helped if you're really anxious around crowds, but, everyone has their own strengths and drawbacks ^ - ^

I've seen the original Carrie and all the remakes I think, they're pretty nice ^ - ^ I think I've watched all of the Nightmare on Elm Street films...probably have to rewatch them someday, but I've never seen Amityville Horror before :o Been a while since I last watched a slasher film tbh, unless you count Purge: Election Year as slasher inspired-esque. Most horror films nowadays are copying The Exorcist and it gets pretty boring T o T

Currently I'm more into looking for horror films with yuri (subtext) in it, some films I found are Roommate (2013), Fatal Frame (2014) and the recent Sadako vs Kayako where the main characters can practically be considered to be a couple, and it even ends with a possibility of them being together depending on how you interpret the final moments of the film.

@ muteKi

Depends on the girl you're dating, I guess... ;)

@ Rina

Oh, you're really sweet, thanks! ^^

How about The Hunger, Jennifer's Body, Embrace of the Vampire or, of course, Lesbian Vampire Killers ^^
Or Contracted...?

^ I'm kinda looking for something that is a little more...pure or so to speak, as in, without any interference to the main relationship. To be honest I find that Japan/Korea does their portrayal of yuri or subtext better by at least providing a plausible outcome for the characters to be together, ie, Tomie: Forbidden Fruit or Wishing Stairs (Whispering Corridors installment #3) with their endings.

Not saying that Japanese/Korean works doesn't kill off either 1 or both of the characters, but I find it a bit more believable in their context that the characters can still be together even in death or otherwise...Idk, American horror films just feel a little bit "straightfoward" to me with how they portray death, and I don't think the relationships are developed very well nor are they portrayed positively, actually I find it rather disappointing that most of those examples mentioned in the post and others that I've searched ends with the characters dying in tragic ways.

And I personally find the concept of Contracted to be disturbing tbh. I mean I can understand the implied message behind the film but it just rubs me the wrong way that the main character had to be a lesbian that got drugged...feels like that element was added in for the sake of creating a dimension of drama to it, in addition to being generally unnverving, which I guess was the point? ^ ^;

I really hope anything in this post made sense... and to be honest I'm expecting somewhat positive portrayal of yuri relationships or subtext in the horror film genre, it almost feels as if I'm contradicting myself because it can be argued that horror is supposed to be tragic, unnerving and dreadful in what it delivers to the audience.

It does make sense, don't worry! But it is kinda hard to find pure and innocent girls love in horror movies, I guess ;)
I always thought that to be unnerving and nerve-wracking was the point of horror movies ^^
But let's just consider this to be a challenge (^_-)v

Maybe someone else has some good suggestions...?
Nezchan is pretty good with that.

Synthwave lovers

I'm here!

Approved wholeheartedly. Took me a while to respond, since I've wanted to go through the entire thing.

While we're on the topic of soundtracks, I've gotten addicted to the soundtrack from Resident Evil: Afterlife. Haven't watched the movie, but the OST is something I really enjoy.

Game of Thrones - you've lost me, watched one episode and fell asleep. Never really saw the appeal of it.

I feel like I'm about to be lynched.

Well so much for that (~ ^ - ^)~

Tis' okay though, I'll just bide my time and wait for the next yuri | subtext horror film to come out from Japan :p

Now if only I had a Wii U to play that latest Fatal Frame game...

I honestly hate the show, I only watch it because... hey, internet means I can do it for free.

The asoiaf books are pretty god though.

Mhhh, new Wentworth episode and Ana is out in Overwatch. Today is a good day.

I like GoT but stopped watching after like season 3. Don't even know why, just kinda did.

I like this response. Most of the time when I say I hate/can't handle horror, I get people insisting on trying to get me to watch/read horrors they're sure I'll like.

@ Galich

Hey, glad to hear that you liked it! (^__^)b
You're right, Afterlife does have some very good tracks. Always loved the opening. That left quite an impact...

If you liked Dance with the Dead than maybe you should listen to this:
Noir Deco – Future to Fantasy LP
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ew4SLiKbzPk
Even better in my opinion.
I think I've posted a link somewhere here before but that one was only for a single song. The one above is for the whole LP.

@ ChocolateCakeLover

NO!
Winter is here! ^^

Sucks that we have to wait till next year for the next season... But oh well... time flies.

I feel the same way about The Walking Dead by now. The first season was brilliant, season two was meh, season three and four got better again but by season six I really didn't care about any of the characters anymore... They just fucked it up real bad. Only reason I keep watching is because I still hope that it'll get at least a little better again...

@ OriginalGengar

Thinking back to that ending... Ep. 9 to be precise... I could imagine why you've stopped then... ^^
That was just brutal... Really didn't see that coming...

@ Nezchan

Well... no use trying to persuade someone if they just don't like it, I guess.

I mean, I've become pretty soft as well in recent years so I'm not one to talk, I guess ^^
I can understand it as far as those excessively violent horror movies are concerned.
But not even a little suspense every now and then...? Just curious ;)

It was probably not that. I can deal with brutal stuff.

The only horror movie I remember liking was an Outlast playthough cause Horror game gameplay is like super boring to me.

The most horrifying thing I've ever experienced was Silent Hill 2 – the videogame.
Still think that's one of the best horror stories ever.
So well made... better than any movie I know. And it's not those creepy creatures that really get to you it's just that damn atmosphere... I'll never forget that experience...
After that you'll never be able to leave Silent Hill again... ^^

@Alvis so it's obligatory to study Spanish^^ but it's great knowing a language even on a basic level :) what they say: with every new language learnt, you get a new soul.
why, in the beginning it was only because of practical reasons really(I have a sibling living for France). And for the most time I wasn't dedicated. but when I took it more seriously, and made some progress, I kind of started hearing the language as a melody^^ and I liked it.. though there are other melodies as well, which i want to know some day xD

@Rina Good job, Rina! :) you are our person for presentations^^ All the times when I had to present something, it had been a nightmarish experience for me, one of them very recent at that :( well, surveys say that people's fear of public talk is greater than that of death...

my idea of aliens from the 80's is E.T. the extra-terrestrial xD, and for the horror-movie talk....

I know he was kind and all and the movie was good too but the way he looked... pretty creepy indeed... ^^
For me back when I was a child at least.

@BlackKitty - Thanks ^ _ ^ and oh, I didn't know that :o

Since we're still on the horror topic, I'm personally kinda in a position where most recent horror films are rather boring to me, the trend of Exorcist-inspired films lately doesn't help with that either; still, it's only mid-way into the year, could have some un-expected gems pop up over the next half.

I'm actually quite interested to see how "The Bye Bye Man" and "Ouija: Origin of Evil" will turn out to be, could both end up being "good", relatively anyways. Tbh, next year is what I am anticipating the most with its horror film lineup:

Insidious 4
Loved all 3 films in the franchise so far, probably one of Blumhouse's best work(s), next to Sinister. That, and Lin Shaye is amazing...she carries the entire Insidious film-line with her role as Elise Rainer, imo.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter
Although the franchise gets flak by the game fans I enjoyed every film in this lol, and Milla Jovovich looks stunning in every one of these so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing her in the film if anything.

Halloween (2017)
Helm'd by the original creator and following the timeline after Resurrection, what could go wrong? Hopefully it'd be better than the "edgy for the sake of being edgy" remakes that Rob Zombie made.
