I just finish watching ep 4 of Transist Girls, extremely cute I was AND I still am happy that japan is branching out and I love it. BUT something I noticed about movies and shows from Japan.... EVERY GOD DAMN KISS SCENE IS SO DAMN DULL!!!!! GOD DAMN IT!! Japan teach your actors to use their god damn orbicularis oris muscle!!!! AND PUCKER THEM LIPS UP!! >:T makes me so mad to see two actresses just "put their lips" together and "call it a kiss". It just looks fake!!! GRRRRRR!!!! agh I'm done >.>

I suppose the actresses don't really want to use tongue, huh? Not really blaming them, that's pretty awkward.

I am still getting used to tha japanese drama play. And yes, their kisses are not very convincing, but they are at least trying.

I don't watch much Japanese TV but those are the ones where they just kinda press their faces together, right? They do look pretty awkward.

It's not only in Japanese TV, also in Korean TV. Haven't watched any other Asian series, but I'm guessing that they're not as comfortable with kissing as the Western people are.

I think that's one thing I didn't like about the kiss in Bodacious Space Pirates, so it happens in anime too. Too blunt, too awkward.

Trying to remember if the kisses in Love My Life were better or not, can't quite recall.

It's not as comfortable as they should be, but it's not as awkward as it typically is.

My problem, and a very minor problem, with the film version is they played Ichiko as a lot more immature in the movie than she comes off in the manga. She's fairly young, but at least in college. The movie treats her like she's in high school.

You can say that again. and not just talking about kiss on the lips, but even a peck on the cheek makes them uncomfortable when not from close friends or family.

When I went in Japan, I often met my brother that lived there and like french people, we greeted each other with the typicaly "kiss on the cheeks" (which is more like bumping cheecks while making a kiss sound, really...). We turned quite a few heads in the subway when we met there. XD

So might be the reason, actually never thought of asking them to confirm it, though.

Sounds like a cultural thing, but if the actors and other artists involved in the making of these series consider an international career they should learn to do it properly. I mean, to be able to essentially "fake" an emotional state and act accordingly is pretty much the definition of an actor. Actor...
(And by "faking" I don't necessarily mean that they don't feel the emotion they aim to display. A good actor has ways to actually feel it.)

I'm imagining that's because in the movie, there's more range of motion. Like you get a panel or two in a manga, but in a movie/tv series, they have to act it out, and if it isn't acted out correctly, then it comes across like something else. But in this case, it would be hard to play her off as mature, considering how petulant she is. Plus she looks pretty young as well.

Not that I didn't love the movie, cause it was really good, but, Japanese/Korean/Asian acting isn't really that good.

I'm guessing here that we watch very different kind of asian movies then. Not that acting bothers me too much, unless it's really bad.

I wasn't talking about using tongue tho lol
Just look at a lot of the "kisses" that some of the movies and dramas have. All the do is "press their lips together" but it just doesn't look like a kiss at all. It looks so fake :( and so awkward lol
