That being said, what do you mod guys think of Alice Cheshire's idea on having the age of the account's comments checked before going through? Is that something that can be feasibly implemented?

We already have such a feature on the site, that is by default disabled, as we prefer to keep the forum as simple and open as possible. It may be implemented again soon.

I actually think idea of making first post on new account being required to be accepted by mod before you can post anything more would be much better. I know it would probably needed adding completely new function to the forum and that is probably not easy, but it would resolve problems like this in a instant. Person wants to post sane post? Let them. They want to post spam/after first post they start to spam? Delete account and you will clearly know when new created accounts are the same person.

I'd even improve on it by only unlocking unmoderated posting after a week has passed from the first post being approved. In the meantime all posts would still go to moderation. That way it'd always take at least a week from account creation until they could start spamming.

If you additionally prevent creation of mulitiple accounts from the same IP within a certain period of time (24 hours, maybe?), you could slow down their ability to create backup accounts.

And whatever you decide, consider not disclosing the exact details of the system, so they'd be more difficult to circumvent.

The idea is for not giving moderators unnecessary work and punish new users because of people like him. 1 post is enough to judge if they are bad or not and even if they do spam, deleting account solves everything, Adding block on creating accounts from same IP could be good idea too, but not that important. I guess it would help mods by decreasing number of accounts they need to delete. Not sure how it would work against changing IP though.

I don't seem to be receiving email notifications to Subscribed topics anymore. There's nothing in my spam folder and my profile still contains my correct email address and the relevant option checked. The To Read list still gets updated, so it's not too inconvenient. Any help?

The only place this would really work is places which use static IP addresses. Most countries outside the US use dynamic IPs which change pretty frequently and even inside the US they're becoming more and more frequent. It's fairly unlikely unless the site has a huge volume of new users but restricting by IP would be more likely to interfere with legitimate users than someone as persistent as whatever this guy's name is.

I got an email notification as recently as yesterday. You might try changing your email then changing it back and/or unsubscribing and resubscribing to whatever you're currently subscribed to. I have noticed on occasion though I'll get a notification email a day or two late so it may be something like that too.
